This week I did things a little differently in choosing my waiver wire adds. By now most people know if they are playoff bound or not. So I decided to look past this week and look for waiver wire adds that could help you in the fantasy playoffs. Whether it be a favorable schedule or playing time situation most of the players mentioned here can possibly aide you in your quest for that imaginary championship that we all desire. Top Waiver Wire Adds for Week 12
NoHalftime Waiver Add of the Week: WR Marqise Lee (JAC)
When it comes to Lee I have good news and bad news. Good news is it looks like Lee has passed Allen Hurns on the depth chart to play opposite A-Rob, and he is only owned in six percent of Yahoo leagues. The bad news is Bortles seems to be regressing as a quarterback. More good news on Lee though is in PPR formats he is putting up some pretty consistent numbers the last few weeks. More bad news though the Jaguars remaining schedule is no walk in the park. Starting this week they are at Buffalo, home against Denver and Minnesota, then off to Houston and week 16 home against Tennessee. Not exactly great match ups, but in PPR he should be able to get you WR3 or flex start numbers. One last good news too, if you get points for return yards he has been doing kick returns as well, I am sure it is not a lot, but a couple of extra points never hurt anyone.
RB Mike Gillislee (BUF)
Regardless of LeSean McCoy‘s status from here on out, Gillislee has earned his share of playing time. With McCoy playing I can see Gillislee, who is only owned in 25 percent of Yahoo leagues, being a solid flex play. If McCoy, who has a history of injuries misses any time from here on out Gillislee is a low end RB1 start. A fantasy playoff schedule of the Steelers, the Browns, and the Dolphins all at home are another reason for adding Gillislee. It is the kind of schedule and situation that can carry your team to the ship and possibly bring it home. Stash him if you can and if McCoy goes down plug him right in a enjoys the points.
Honorable Mentions
- Alex Smith (K.C.) – 27 percent owned – Three fantasy playoff games at home verus the Raiders, Titans, and Broncos. Two out of three ain’t bad right? This makes Smith an excellent super flex or 2QB league start for a playoff run.
- Sam Bradford (MIN) – 12 percent owned – Remaining schedule is one of the better ones. If you are dealing with an under performing QB Bradford just might be what you need to save your season.
- Chris Ivory (JAC) – 48 percent owned – Not a great schedule, but if Yeldon is hobbled at all, that is more work for Ivory down the stretch.
- Pierre Garcon (WAS) – 23 percent owned – I have been ignoring this guy long enough. 18/264/1 over his last three games has proven he can be counted on for a flex start.
- Malcolm Mitchel (N.E.)l – 1 percent owned – We got a preview of what he can do, but with a healthy Gronk and Hogan we might not see it too often. More of a dyansty stash.
- Tyler Boyd (CIN) – 6 percent owned – Wheteher he is ready of not Boyd has to fill in for Green for the next few weeks. Volume alone gives him value.
- Tajae Sharpe (TEN) – 12 percent owned – Back to back weeks with a TD is a good sign, but still has room to grow in a young and emerging offense.
- Cecil Shorts (T.B.) – 0 percent owned – Good playoff stash. The Bucs have the Saints twice and the Cowboys in between in what could be 3 high scoring games right through the fantasy playoffs.
- Tyreek Hill (K.C.) – 40 percent owned – Does have Denver twice, but in between the Chiefs face the Falcons, Raiders, and Titans, all teams that can be thrown on.
- Dontrelle Inman (S.D.) – 4 percent owned – The Chargers have one of my favorite playoff schedules. Starting week 13 they face the Bucs, Panthers, Raiders, and Browns. If you are worried about under performing players Inman could be a possible solution for you.
- Vance McDonald (S.F.) – 8 percent owned – McDonald has been putting up steady numbers since the 49ers bye week. Not a great schedule but playing on a team that will throw a lot.
- Will Tye (NYG) – 2 percent owned – Giants are getting hot and Tye seems to have taken over as the starting TE. Could see an uptick in TD’s down the stretch.
- C.J. Fiedorowicz (HOU – 22 percent owned – Clearly CJ is Osweiler’s favorite target, which is surprising on a team that has Nuk. Regardless in PPR formats CJ is a must start for a team with a favorable fantasy playoff schedule.
