Week 5 is in the books, and finding good waiver wire players has become more and more difficult as the season progresses. There are, however, a few good players still left out there, and with injuries to Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, and DeVante Parker, some owners may be in need of some fill-ins. Let’s get to this weeks adds…

Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor (BUF)

There were a few other QBs that will likely make waiver wire columns that you won’t see here. Guys like Brian Hoyer and Jacoby Brissett will be on a lot of those lists, but I refuse to buy-in on either one as a legit fantasy starter. Taylor wasn’t great in Week 5 and he is on a bye in Week 6, so why would I suggest you add him?

When he returns from his bye, starting in Week 7, these are his matchups; the Bucs, the Raiders, the Jets, the Saints and Chargers. Coming into Week 5 those teams were ranked 30th, 20th, 17th, 28th and 23rd respectively in overall defense. If he is on your waiver wire and you have room on your bench, add him now in case another owner beats you to it.

Running Backs

Wayne Gallman (NYG)

The lone bright spot for the Giants in their 0-and-5 start to the season has been the emergence of their fourth-round rookie, Gallman. He had to share the backfield with Orleans Darkwa in Week 5, but Darkwa injured his calf and Gallman once again showed some flashes in the second half that could eventually lead to him winning the starting job.

Marlon Mack (IND)

Mack had a breakout game in Week 5 against the 49ers. He may not be start-able in 10-to-12 team leagues yet because I don’t know if he’ll get the volume, but he is worth picking up and stashing as I think he will eventually overtake Frank Gore. It was interesting to note that Frank Gore inexplicably was taken out of the game on goal-to-go situations, he seems to be getting phased out already.

Wide Receivers

Mike Williams (LAC)

I’ve had him in my last three waiver wire columns, and his ownership is still under 10 percent. The team came out and confirmed he will be playing in Week 6, how much has yet to be determined, but you need to add him now in case he blows up. It’s not like the Chargers have a ton to play for at this point anyway.

Nelson Agholor (PHI)

I’ve been bullish on Agholor as a legitimate fantasy starter, but he is starting to produce on a more consistent basis and has earned a spot on the waiver wire list. After a good showing against what was a good Cardinal’s pass defense, I’m finally going to give him some credit.

Ends

Austin Seferarin-Jenkins (NYJ)

I never thought I’d see the day when I was recommending ASJ as a good pickup in fantasy football, but that day has come nonetheless. The Jets are 3-2 and in a three-way tie with the Bills and Patriots for first place in the division, and ASJ may be their best pass catcher. Wow. I would have bet every dime I had if someone told me I’d be typing that line in Week 6 of 2017.

Tyler Kroft (CIN)

Kroft has proven to be more than just “Tyler Eifert’s” backup, and has shown flashes over the past two weeks making him a viable fantasy fill-in. He didn’t have the best of number’s in Week 5, at least when compared to his Week 4 two TD performance, but he had five targets and remains the No. 2 option behind A.J. Green.

George Kittle (SF)

Kittle had a breakout game in Indy this week with seven catches on a whopping nine targets for 83 yards and the game-tying TD to send the game to overtime. He finally showed why he made Vance McDonald expendable, and with the 49ers likely to be playing from behind more often than not, he should continue to see targets.
