Rd. 1 No. 2: QB Mitch Trubisky
I think that the 49ers would be better served by drafting linebacker Reuben Foster at this spot, but They absolutely love Trubisky. I don’t think he’s worthy of a Top ten pick. They do. That being said the talent is certainly there, and while I think he’s the third best QB in this draft he is the best fit for the 49ers out of all the Quarterbacks in this class. He would instantly become their best player on offense, and they won’t be able to get him if they don’t draft him here. It’s a reach, but it could be worse. Mitch is a gifted QB, and that is something that The 49ers desperately need. They could draft Foster here instead, and take a developmental QB in the later rounds, but even Browns fans don’t like the worst word in Football: Rebuilding.
Round 2: WR Isaiah Ford
The receiving corps is an absolute mess in San Francisco, and they need to find a potential No. 1 target early in this draft. Ford is still flying under the radar a bit, but he’s got a tall frame, a huge catch radius and long-striding deep speed to stretch the field. Ford caught 79 passes for 1,094 yards, and 7 TDs this year.
Rd. 3: CB Cordrea Tankersly
If The Eagles don’t select him in round two I expect Cordrea to slide into the third round. He is a second round talent who can start right away. He’s simply a sleeper pick that people kinda know about. Players like that often slide. He was a great college talent and should transfer his coverage skills nicely to The NFL. He ran a better than expected 4.40 40 yard dash, and has the ability to play FS.
Rd. 4: WR Shelton Gibson
Gibson may be the second best deep threat in this draft after John Ross. I think he should go higher and should have a big impact in the NFL. He may be a one-trick pony like the player he is often compared to. (DeSean Jackson) but that can win you ball games. Just ask every single team DeSean Jackson has played for, and every corner who’s had to defend him. Speed kills.
Rd 5: CB/S Jeremy Cutrer
Cutrer is an amazing young talent who can be a star DB for the 9ers. He’s a project. He likely won’t contribute much his first year, and I’ll tell you why. While he’s competitive, has good ball skills, and is a smart player, he simply must add mass to his 168-pound 6-foot-2Â frame to compete in The NFL. If the 49ers are patient, and since they are currently rebuilding they should be then they should take a flier on Jeremy Cutrer in this Rd. I truly believe if he adds 30 pounds, and is moved to Safety he could be a better DB than Malik Hooker in his second NFL season. Every 9ers fan wants the 9ers to draft Hooker in the first round, and they might. I think this would be the wiser approach as they have a whole to fill at almost every position.

Rd 6: RB Kareem Hunt
I may be the only sports writer to think that Hunt gets past the third round, and I’m likely the only one who sees him taking a tumble to round 6. He’s very talented, and will eventually be a solid starting running back for the 49ers. If I’m right, 9ers fans will jump for joy. After reading the reason, he may fall to round 6 they should still jump just perhaps a little less: Hunt’s 2015 season was one to forget. He was suspended for the first two games for violating team rules, then struggled with hamstring and ankle injuries during the course of the year. Somehow, he still covered 973 yards and scored 12 times on 178 carries in just nine games, garnering second-team All-MAC notice. This isn’t Hunt’s first injury. He has had a small injury every single year, and when he plays in the NFL may not play every single game. He reminds me of former NFL running Back Correll Buchalter. Correll was great when he played. The only problem is he played half the game, then would grab at his ankle. While I wish Hunt the best I see the same characteristics on tape. That said for a guy you got in the sixth round that’s not bad production for the pick at all. (Corell was a late rd. pick as well Rd. 5) If he’s used in a running back tandem approach he could excel.
Rd. 7: WR Jerome Lane
If Lane is still here in the very last round of the draft the 9ers would be foolish to pass. He’s one of the oddest players to scout due to one small fact: He is projected in many mocks to be a late 3rd round pick. He’s also projected in many mocks to go completely undrafted. After watching a little bit of his tape I can honestly tell you that I think he’s a third round talent which makes him an excellent value at this pick. Here is some more good news for a team that has holes at both LB and WR. Lane played both in college, and want’s to play both in the NFL. He would be the first NFL player to play both offense and defense since Chuck Bednarik of The Eagles 1960 Championship team. Other players like Deion Sanders have done it for a game, but it has been 57 years since any player has done that for a season. If the 9ers let Lane play how he wants to play, that would be fun to watch. At 6-foot-3 209, he certainly has the size. last year as a WR he caught 62 passes for 1,018 yards and six touchdowns.
