Quarterback
Quarterback is working out mostly as planned. There are very few buy-low candidates, and very few sell-high candidates. If I’m in need of a quarterback, I have mild interest in buying Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston and Jared Goff. At the same time, I’m not giving up premium assets for any of these three. Most likely, I’d look to send bench players to acquire them.
If you can: Patrick Mahomes has run into three straight “floor” games. This is the best chance we’ve had to buy since his rookie year. I would send a premium asset to buy Patrick Mahomes, but the Mahomes owner has likely invested a high pick in the quarterback, still making it difficult to buy him.
Running Back
Alvin Kamara – Scoring in only one game this season, Kamara has become a fantasy disappointment for owners who used a top five pick on him in their draft. As the overall RB7, he’s still produced, but hasn’t been worth the original draft selection. The six running back ahead of Kamara have scored 40 touchdowns (average of 6.67 each). With 33 receptions, Kamara’s involvement in the passing game keeps his floor high, so when the touchdowns return, Kamara will be vaulted to the same level as those other backs. With Drew Brees’ return getting closer each week, I’m buying Kamara while I can.
Wide Receiver
Mike Evans – After not seeing a single target in week five, Evans finished with a solid, but unspectacular 9 catches for 96 yards in week six on 17 targets. Evans is now 45.8 PPR points behind teammate Chris Godwin, but on only two fewer targets. While I believe Godwin will continue to be the best receiver on the Buccaneers, it won’t be by this wide of a margin. I’m attempting to buy Evans, as I still see him as a low-end WR1 or a high-end WR2.
DeAndre Hopkins – Hopkins was frequently drafted as the top wide receiver in fantasy drafts this year. There is nothing that tells me he shouldn’t still be in that conversation. He’s recorded 56 targets this year (9.33/game), a bit off of his 2018 pace (10.19/game), but has just two touchdowns. I’m expecting touchdown regression to help Hopkins, and as Will Fuller continues to take some attention, defenses won’t be able to key on Hopkins quite as much. I’m still buying Hopkins as a clear WR1.
Mike Williams – Williams has struggled to stay healthy this season, but when he’s on the field, he is heavily involved. Williams is 11th in air yards this season (all air yards stats via airyards.com), but has just 19 catches. The top 10 wide receivers in air yards average 100.46 fantasy points. Williams has just 49.3 fantasy points. He also has seven red-zone targets (the league leader has nine), five inside the ten yard line, but hasn’t scored. Major regression is coming for Williams if he can stay on the field.

Sell High

Quarterback
While there are very few quarterbacks worth buying or selling, if you own Kirk Cousins in a 2QB league, consider selling him after his four-touchdown performance. See my wide receiver sell-high for more information.
Running Back
Carlos Hyde – Hyde has 48 touches over the past two weeks. He’s scored 30 PPR points over this stretch and has a touchdown in both games. He’s the clear RB1 for the Texans, but is no more than a low-end RB2 in fantasy. He has just six catches this season, making him dependent on rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. With Deshaun Watson taking some of the red-zone rushing work, Hyde has a very low floor. If you own Hyde in a PPR league, use the last two games as an opportunity to sell him for a running back with more receiving ability.

Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs – Diggs dominated the Eagles secondary for a total of 43.5 PPR points. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings passing attach was able to pick apart the Eagles for 333 passing yards and four passing touchdowns on just 29 pass attempts. Diggs recorded 250 air yards on 11 targets and scored three touchdowns. The 250 air yards was exciting to see, but in the five weeks prior, Diggs totaled 327 air yards. The matchup set up perfectly for Cousins, Diggs, and Adam Thielen as the Eagles elite rush defense forces teams to attack through the air. In normal matchups, the Vikings are likely to stick with Dalvin Cook and their run-first attack, leaving the trio of Cousins, Diggs, and Thielen as the second option in the offense.

Tight End
No tight ends stick out as clear sell-highs, but I’ll offer this as some advice. Players like Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry, and Darren Waller are top eight options this year, but still aren’t at the same level as Travis Kelce. While few owners will send Kelce in a one-for-one swap, sending an offer of (Hooper/Henry/Waller) with a sweetener could get the job done. I’ve been using WR3s or RB4s as sweeteners for deals like this and have found success.
