Bottom Line
Kadarius Toney is not the big, imposing wide receiver that we are used to seeing entering the draft, but that doesn’t mean that his hands and speed won’t project him into a slot position. Like Julian Edelman, Toney is smaller in stature but his ability to shake defenders and explode for positive yards after the catch makes him versatile and desirable for NFL teams. In 2020, Toney’s agile feet and consistent hands produced 984 yards on 70 receptions and 10 touchdowns.
Toney tracks the ball well and once in his hands, he whips, pivots, and propels past defenses with spectacular forward momentum to the endzone. Toney does need to improve at the line with blocking but that can and will be fixed at the NFL level. Toney dealt with shoulder and shin injuries in the past, but that should not hinder him from coming off the boards in the 2nd round. Needless to say, Toney is an athletic beast that plays like he is the size of DK Metcalf.
Strong in body, mind, and determination make Toney a fit for a team that utilizes short down passing and lets the receiver make up the yards like Detroit, Colts, or the Saints, or Washington to complement their outstanding wideouts in Thomas and McLaurin respectively.
