2020 Dynasty Rookie Draft Projection | Late 2nd/3rd Round

Bottom Line

Nico Collins opted out of the 2020 college football season. One of the intriguing things this draft season will be what happens to the players that have not seen game action since the 2019 season, and that goes for Collins. My favorite thing about him is how he can go up and get the ball over the defender. Instead of jump balls being 50-50 for Collins, they are almost 75-25 due to his size and vertical jump. He weighed in at 215 pounds at the Senior Bowl, which is a perfect weight for him at this point of his career. His strength and physicality make him a great blocker in the running game. He runs good slant routes and has a 79-inch wingspan, which lets him have a chance to catch any ball thrown in his direction.

Overall, his route running needs to be cleaned up a little bit. Since he is usually bigger than any defender covering him, he relies too much on his size and not enough on his pure athleticism. Collins best year at Michigan was his junior tear when he had 37 catches for 729 yards. That is a little concerning that he only had 37 catches but I believe that’s more on Michigans offense as a whole than Collins himself. If he wouldn’t have opted out in 2020 I believe he would be ranked higher than he is in this draft class.
