Bottom Line

The once five-star recruit can be a mismatch nightmare with his combination of size and speed. Grimes was a reliable short-yardage receiver and displayed his knack for finding the end zone in 2020. He has also shown the ability to beat NFL caliber corners downfield like Alabama’s Partick Surtain II and Vanderbilt’s Allan George. Also, Grimes was very dangerous in the screen game because of the ability to make defenders miss in the open field and the speed to score from outside the red zone. If he can develop consistent route running, there is a strong possibility that he could carve out a Chase Claypool-Esque role this season. Grimes is a sleeper pick that many people have overlooked due to his teammates WR Kadarius Toney and TE Kyle Pitts.
