Daily Fantasy: NFL Week 2 FanDuel & DraftKings Lineup Advice (Sunday 9/18/16)

What a Week 1 that was, huh? I hope you played some of my top plays from last week because I nailed 80 percent of my picks! I’m not going to waste a lot of your time with an intro, so I’ll keep this short. This week’s slate is a little harder to figure out, and some of the value plays from last week are no longer values, but I put in some time and research and I think I came up with some good plays for Week 2…

Explosive PlayMy top play for the position
Deep ThreatA deep threat is a second or third tier player that will outperform their price on FanDuel/DraftKings.
Hail MaryAlso know as a punt, a Hail Mary is a cheap, low-owned player with a ton of upside. Great for GPP's.
Missed TackleA missed tackle is a first or second tier player that I’ll be fading in my contests.

*note* Prices are based on FanDuel, but most plays will crossover to DraftKings as well

NFL Week 2 FanDuel & DraftKings Lineup Advice (Sunday 9/18/16)

Quarterbacks

Explosive Play | Blake Bortles (JAC) @ SD $8,100

Take a look at this line. 34-for-48 363 yards two passing touchdowns and one rushing. Who’s stat line is that you ask? Alex Smith from Week 1 against these same San Diego Chargers. Bortles was slightly disappointing from a fantasy standpoint last week, he’ll make up for it this week.

Deep Threat | Marcus Mariota (TEN) @ DET $7,500

Mariota was the ultimate boom or bust player last week. He threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns! Unfortunately, two of his touchdowns went to Vikings players. Andrew Luck just carved up this Detriot defense in Week 1, and while Mariota is not Andrew Luck at $7,500 he doesn’t have to be. If he can keep his turnovers down Mariota should have a nice game against the Lions.

Hail Mary | Josh McCown (CLE) vs BAL $6,000

I like McCown a little more on DraftKings than FanDuel due to his minimum price tag at $5,000 on DK, but he still is a decent play on FanDuel too. McCown had a game against the Ravens last year in which he put up 457 yards two passing and one rushing TD. I don’t expect him to repeat that obviously, but he makes for an interesting play.

Missed Tackle | Andrew Luck (IND) @ DEN $8,500

Luck was the top QB on both sites last week, but a matchup with Denver in Denver scares me off. The Denver defense held Cam Newton to under 200 yards and sacked him three times. Luck does not have the offensive line nor the run game to keep the Broncos’ defenders at bay. It will be a long day for Luck.

Running Backs

Explosive Play | C.J. Anderson (DEN) vs IND $7,800

Anderson had 24 touches in Week 1 against a very good Panthers defense and put up 27.9 FanDuel points. This week he gets a very weak Colts defense, and with Trevor Siemian starting only his second NFL game, Anderson could get 35 touches this week.

Deep Threat | Mark Ingram (NO) @ NYG $7,000

Drew Brees on the road is not the same player as Drew Brees at home. He travels this week to New York, an outdoor stadium where he also struggles at times, and rain is in the forecast. Sean Payton and his coaching staff are big on analytics, and the analytics, with this being a road game in potentially bad weather, are screaming for a more balanced offense that will feature Ingram more than they did in Week 1. When you are scoring from 98 yards away, you don’t need Ingram to punch it in the end zone — this week they will need him.

Hail Mary | Danny Woodhead (SD) vs JAC $6,400

This game figures to be a high-scoring affair, and after what Woodhead did last week — touching the ball 21 times with 16 of them being runs — Woodhead is a steal at $6,400. With no Keenan Allen in this offense, Woodhead may end up leading this team in targets from week to week, and if he is going to get carries on top of that, where do I sign up?

Missed Tackle |  Todd Gurley (LA) vs SEA $8,400

If you are questioning this, go back and watch the replay of Monday’s night’s game.

Others I like: DeMarco Murray $7,400, Latavius Murray $7,100, Melvin Gordan $6,600, Rashad Jennings $6,300

Wide Receivers

Explosive Play | Allen Robinson (JAC) @ SD $8,200

Robinson was one of the few calls I missed on in last week’s column, but if you watched the game like I did, you’ll see the opportunity was there for him to have a huge game. He dropped what would have been a ridiculous TD catch, but one he could have made, and Bortles just missed him on a deep pass that could have also resulted in a TD.  The Chargers defense will give up some big plays, and I expect Robinson to be on the receiving end of a few.

Deep Threat | Kelvin Benjamin (CAR) vs SF $7,500

Benjamin put to rest any doubt that he could return to his 2014 rookie form, picking up right where he left off as Cam Newton’s top option. He was targeted 12 times catching six of them for 91 yards and a TD. He may have caught a few more of those targets had Newton not been under duress for most of the game. The 49ers defense looked good Monday night, but they were playing the Rams after all. Newsflash! The Panthers are not the Rams.

Hail Mary | Tajae Sharpe (TEN) @ DET $6,000

Sharpe was a very little hyped rookie WR in Tennesee but has quickly become a legit threat to be the top rookie WR from this year’s class. He is the No. 1 WR on this team, and even though he may not be the No. 1 option in the passing game (Delanie Walker) he was still targetted 11 times in Week 1. The only thing missing from his seven catches for 76 yards was a TD. One of those flukey DeMarco Murray receiving TDs should have gone his way. This week, they will. Sharpe catches at least one TD this week, and — bold prediction — I think he’ll catch two.

Missed Tackle | The entire Colts receiving corps

For the same reason I don’t like Luck, I don’t like any of the Colts WRs. I do think one of them will have a good game, but who that will be is anyone’s guess. I don’t think Luck will have time to throw the ball downfield and will be forced into a few turnovers as well. I’m avoiding all Colts this weekend.

Others I like: Odell Beckham Jr. $9,400, Brandin Cooks $8,400, *Tyrell Williams $5,400

Tight Ends

Explosive Play | Delanie Walker (TEN) @ DET $6,600

I like a Mariota/Walker stack this week. Walker did not have a good Week 1, but I expect him to bounce back this week. The Lions gave up three TDs to TEs in Week 1, two of which went to some guy named Jack Doyle!. Walker will find the end zone in this one.

Deep Threat | Gary Barnidge (CLE) vs BAL $6,000

Barnidge put up a big fat zero in Week 1 and was barely even targetted by Robert Griffin III. With Griffin out for at least six weeks, Josh McCown will get the start and he and Barnidge had very good chemistry last year. When McCown was the Browns QB in 2015, he targetted Barnidge on 32 percent of his throws. To put that in perspective, Big Ben targetted Antonio Brown on 31 percent of his throw last year.

Hail Mary | Eric Ebron (DET) vs TEN $5,500

I predicted Ebron would have his breakout season this year, and Week 1 was a decent start to that breakout. He didn’t have a huge game, but he caught all five of his targets from Matthew Stafford and looked good despite the preseason injury scare.

Missed Tackle | Greg Olsen (CAR) vs SF $7,600

I wrote this in my Article on FantasyPros, but Navarro Bowman is one of the best linebackers in pass coverage, and I expect him to be on Olsen in this one. I don’t think Bowman can shut him down completely, but I think he can slow him down enough to make him a little too expensive to pay up for.

Defense

Explosive Play | Carolina Panthers vs 49ers $5,300

The 49ers looked good on Monday night against the Rams. The Panthers are not the Rams. That is all.

Deep Threat | Baltimore Ravens @ Browns $4,500

I know I just hyped Gary Barnidge and Josh McCown, but on the opposite side of the coin, the Ravens defense played very well last week and could shut down the Browns like the Eagles did.

Hail Mary | None

Missed Tackle | None

Others I like: Eagles @ Bears
