DFS CFL Best Draft Kings Values Week 4

It is a 3-game slate here in Week 4. The Edmonton-Toronto game schedule for this week has been postponed due to a Covid outbreak. Here’s hoping that everyone involved will make a fully healthy recovery.

For our Daily Fantasy Sports purposes that still gives us six teams to choose from. So here are the players that I believe have the best value on Draft Kings main DFS slate. Which players are at the preferred price points? Find out below.

Quarterback

Michael Reilly (BC) $8,900 @ OTT

The B.C. Lions QB situation seems to be settled. After dealing with some injuries to start the season, Michael Reilly is healthy and firmly entrenched as the starter. Yes it is slightly concerning that Rilley has only thrown 1 TD pass so far this season. However, as he has shown throughout his career, Reilly is one of the most productive quarterbacks at scoring rushing touchdowns. And after having a higher price in previous weeks, a QB for under $9K is great value.

Zach Collaros (WPG) $7,900 vs CGY

In three of the first four weeks of the season, I have featured Zach Collaros in this section. Much like in weeks 1 and 2, Collaros is below the $8K price range. And once again, Winnipeg will be without All-Star RB Andrew Harris. That gives Collaros a higher TD upside, especially with alpha receiver Darvin Adams back healthy.

Running Back

William Stanback (MTL) $9,200 vs HAM

This week I am all about paying up for William Stanback. So far this season, he has been the model of consistency. Stanback produced identical 14.2 fantasy point games in both of Montreal’s games, a win and a loss. He has done so without catching a single pass yet. Instead, Stanback has been given the volume but with really great efficiency. He has received at least 15 rush attempts in both games with 5.9 yards per carry. I expect that to continue against a Hamilton team giving up a league-worst 158.8 rushing yards per game.

Shaq Cooper (BC) $7,300 @ OTT

Shaq Cooper has not done much yet this CFL season. After dealing with injuries during the first two weeks, he only received 6 carries in his season debut. I look for that number of touches to increase dramatically in week 4. I do have concerns about Ottawa, specifically their offense ability to sustain drives. This could lead to a time of possession battle that heavily favors the B.C Lions. If that is the case, look for Cooper to be a key component of plan. I am so confident in the Lions this week that I have them featured in each section.

Wide Receiver

Lucky Whitehead (BC) $7,100 @ OTT

Case in point, another B.C. player. Following two dominant performances to open the season, Lucky Whitehead jumped in price to become the most expensive WR in Week 3. I mostly avoided him in the $9K range, opting for a similarly priced teammate. But now, Whitehead has returned to a reasonable price. This week in particular, I feel no strong urge to pay up for elite wide receivers and would much rather go after the top options at other positions. Whitehead at $7,100 is about as high as I am willing to go in terms of making a heavy investment at the WR position.

Jake Wieneke (MTL) $6,600 vs HAM

This week, I want to target multiple wide receivers in the $5K and $6K ranges. Jake Wieneke is a good reason why. It is such a great value range to select a WR coming off of a 12 target game. Wieneke managed to turn that into 8 receptions and 106 yards, as well as his second TD in as many weeks. While we should not overreact to one game, Wieneke has shown this type of weekly ceiling in the past. During the 2019 season, he had an 8 catch, 134 yard outing against the eventual Grey Cup Champion Blue Bombers.

I am expecting big things again from this Montreal offense. And for the sake of redundancy I will not feature BJ Cunningnham in this section for the third straight week. Although he is a great value at $6,200.

CFL Pick Cup Prop

Kenny Lawler Jr. (WPG) $5,900 vs CGY

Much like his QB, Kenny Lawler is becoming a mainstay in my lineups. Week after week, Winnipeg appears to be dealing with injuries, especially to other pass-catchers. One of the healthy constants is Kenny Lawler who has operated as the team’s top receivers early in 2021. Even with the return of Darvin Adams last week, Lawler still saw seven targets. The fact that he is under $6K is tremendous value. I will not be surprised if Lawler is the player I have in the most lineups this week. Both he and teammate Rasheed Bailey ($5,600) create cheap stacking opportunities with QB Collaros.

Josh Huff (CGY) $5,700 @ WPG

There is no deep dive this week, as most of the players I am targeting can be found in the $5K – $6K range. That includes the top four Calgary receivers. While Josh Huff is listed as the fourth most expensive WR on his team, he was second among Stampeders in targets last week. This is especially important because it will be Jake Maier once again under center for Calgary. I look for the WR that the young QB has already established some chemistry with.

Defense

Winnipeg Blue Bombers $5,000 vs CGY

This week, the most expensive defense is a reasonable $5,000 on the dot. The young QB Maier managed to get the win last week. He did throw 2 interceptions, but the opposing Montreal defense only scored 8 fantasy points as a result. Although, to be fair, the Alouettes do not have as potent a pass-rsuh as Winnipeg. Look for the Blue Bombers defensive line to put tremondous pressure on Maier. This could lead to some turnovers and maybe even a defensive score.

B.C. Lions $4,700 @ OTT

One of the safest plays at defense is the B.C. Lions. The opposing Ottawa offense has struggled nightly to gain many yards. QB Matt Nichols is dealing with a shoulder injury and cannot push the ball downfield consistently. The RedBlacks rely so much on yards after the catch but unfortunately, their best playmaker might miss this week 4 game. If R.J. Harris sits out, that this B.C. defense will likely not allow very much in terms of yards or points.
