Chris Sale
Sale is in a tier of his own on Saturday’s main slate. He’ll face the A’s in the Coliseum. The Coliseum is a park that suppresses strikeouts, and the A’s are 18th in strikeout rate, but Sale has an elite strikeout rate. He’s a big favorite, and has an OTT (see pitcher chart) of three runs, lowest on the slate. With run prevention, and his built-in strikeout upside, Sale is the top pitcher on the slate.
James Paxton
Paxton will face the Rangers in Globe Life Park. It’s a tough park to pitch in, but the Rangers have strikeouts in their lineup. If Paxton can keep the Rangers off the board, he has GPP upside at $9,900 on DraftKings. If you’re playing Sale, it will be interesting to see if there is enough value to fit Paxton as your SP2 in cash games. Ultimately, the Rangers lineup and umpire data will determine whether Paxton will be worth the price in cash.

Hitters
Mariners Bats
The Mariners will face Bartolo Colon in Globe Life Park. They have a team run total of five, and although Colon took a perfect game into the eighth inning in his last start, he had luck on his side. Colon has a .48 HR/9 this year while most projection systems have him above 1.50 HR/9. He has a BABIP almost .100 under his projection, and a left on base percentage of 86.2%. Colon will regress to the mean, and the Mariners are appropriately priced. Kyle Seager and Robinson Cano are my favorite bats because they’ll hold the platoon advantage against Colon. Jean Segura and Nelson Cruz are also in play, although they may be better tournament options as part of a Mariners stack.
Coors Bats
Charlie Blackmon is the top bat on the slate once again, but he’s priced up, making it difficult to fit him into cash game lineups. Gerardo Parra is the best value from the Rockies lineup assuming he bats fifth or sixth. Against Yu Darvish, I don’t have a ton of interest in the Rockies in cash games, but will stack them in tournaments.
On the Cubs side, Kris Bryant is the top option, but he is also priced up and is difficult to fit in cash games. Albert Almora is the best value if he’s hitting at the top of the order. I expect the Cubs to be a popular stack after they put up 16 runs yesterday. Because of the increased ownership, I’m not as fond of the Cubs in tournaments. Almora is the only Cubs bat currently on my radar in cash games.
Brewers Lefties and Ryan Braun
The Brewers will face Jose Urena in Miller Park. They have a team run total of five, and Miller Park is an elite park for lefty power. Eric Thames is the top Brewers bat, while Travis Shaw, Jonathan Villar and Braun are also in play. I’ll only play Villar if he’s leading off, but if he is, he’s a near lock in cash games. The Brewers broke out of their team-wide slump, knocking in 22 runs in the past two games. They are my favorite team stack in tournaments, and I’ll have them sprinkled in with the Mariners lefties in cash games.
