Aces

There are a ton of aces pitching on Tuesday. Here are my notes on some of them.

Max Scherzer – $12,700 – Scherzer is the highest priced player, and the Pirates only strike out 19.5% of the time, second lowest rate in the league. The floor is high, but upside is capped.

Chris Sale – $12,400 – Sale has finally gone over 100 pitches (twice now), so I like the upside against a weak Royals offense. The Royals strike out at the lowest rate in the league, but 25.4% of the time against lefties, 9th highest in the league.

Clayton Kershaw – $11,900 – Kershaw doesn’t look like himself. I’ll be avoiding him until he strings together a few good starts, or until his price drops.

Justin Verlander – $11,700 – Verlander faces the Yankees, who have the highest wRC+ in the league. Because of the price and matchup, I think Verlander will go low-owned. He has strikeout upside, and if he can keep the Yankees off the board, he can win a tournament for you.

Noah Syndergaard – $10,800 – The price here is certainly appealing, but the matchup is not. The Braves are third in the league in wRC+ and have the seventh lowest strikeout rate. I think he’ll be popular, but I will likely pass in cash games.

Michael Wacha

Wacha is the favorite to be my SP2 on Tuesday. He’s priced at $8,000 on DraftKings and will face the righty-heavy White Sox. The White Sox take a huge park hit and also lose their DH traveling to Busch Stadium. They strike out 24.5% of the time and have a team run total of just 3.5 runs. Wacha seems fairly safe, and has upside even at an $8,000 price tag.

Hitters

No time for a full write up, but here are some of my favorite plays with some notes.

Giancarlo Stanton

I know it’s against Justin Verlander, but whenever Stanton costs $4,400, he has to be in consideration. I expect Stanton to be somewhat popular in tournaments, but at his price I’m considering him for cash as well.

J.D. Martinez

Martinez is facing a lefty in Fenway Park. He’s affordable at $4,800 and has one of the highest home run and RBI projections on the slate.

Carlos Gomez/Wilson Ramos

Gomez is a value at $3,300. He’s power/speed combo facing an overrated Mike Clevinger. Ramos has one of the top home run projections for catchers tonight and is also a value at $3,600 if he’s batting in the top five in the order.

Justin Bour

As long as the roof stays open in Miami, I like Bour against Zach Eflin. Bour is a top ten value on the slate, has a high home run projection, and a low strikeout projection.
