Pitchers

For my Hitter picks and analysis, click NEXT!

Walker Buehler

Buehler is one of baseball’s top prospects, and he’s lived up to the hype through his first three starts. He’ll face the Reds who take a huge park hit traveling to Dodger Stadium. Buehler is the biggest favorite on the slate and has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). Buehler is priced over $10K for the first time this season, and the only concern with him is his pitch count will be capped between 85-95. With the high price and limited pitch count, he’s probably best left for cash games.

Garrett Richards

Much like the Reds, the Twins take a big park hit traveling to Angel Stadium. Richards has an OTT of 3.5 and has one of the best strikeout rates on the slate. The Twins lineup has some players with high K rates, but some of those guys are not full time players. If the Twins put out a favorable lineup, Richards has a chance to be the top pitcher on Thursday. At $8,900, he’s in play for both cash games and tournaments.

Ian Kennedy

Kennedy is and interesting tournament play to fit in Coors bats. He’s price at $6,500, seventh lowest on the slate. The Orioles offense has struggles this season, striking out 25.5% (4th highest) of the time while owning a 78 wRC+ (3rd lowest). I won’t recommend Kennedy for cash games, but there is upside in tournaments.

Hitters

Coors Bats

The Brewers travel to Coors Field and are now priced up. In cash games, I only have interest in Ryan Braun and maybe Christian Yelich. All of the other Brewers seem too expensive with other teams in good spots as well. On the Rockies side, I’m locking in Charlie Blackmon, and Carlos Gonzalez is a near lock against Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin has struggled this year, striking out 13.5% of the batters he’s faced and recording a 5.53 SIERA. He’s now tasked with pitching in Coors Field, and the Rockies have a team run total of six. Trevor Story has made most of my lineups when Coors is on the slate, and he’s a strong candidate as well. I currently have three Rockies in cash games, but will watch lineups to see if any Coors value opens up.

Mike Moustakas

Moustakas was a major disappointment last night, but I’m playing him today against Chris Tillman. This is the second year in a row that Tillman has a SIERA over 5.75, a HR/9 over 1.75 and a strikeout rate under 15%. He’s one of the worst pitchers in the league, so I’ll take the power lefty against him. Nolan Arenado is the only third baseman projected to score more than Moustakas, but he costs $1,100 more on DraftKings. Moustakas is locked into my lineup.

Chris Davis

In the same game, Davis will face Ian Kennedy in Camden yards. While I like Kennedy as a low-owned tournament play, I would prefer to play Orioles bats in cash games. Davis will have the platoon advantage and should hit fifth. If he does, he’ll be the top first base value on the slate. Davis has the highest home run projection among first baseman, giving him upside in tournaments (if you’re not playing Kennedy).
