Godley will face the Giants in AT&T Park. He has an OTT of 3.5 (see pitcher chart), tied with four others for the lowest on the slate. The Giants strike out 24.7% of the time, sixth highest rate in the league. I actually expect that strikeout number to drop as the season goes along, making Godley a bit less appealing. I expect Godley to be highly owned, and he will probably project to score the most DK points once lineups are out, but it will be close. I’m not convinced he’ll have enough separation between the cheaper pitchers to be used in my lineups.
Teheran will face the Padres in SunTrust Park. The Padres have the highest strikeout rate in the league at 25.9%. They also have the sixth worst wRC+. Teheran has been bad recently, averaging 7.9 DK points per game over his last four. He displayed upside at the beginning of the year, averaging 26 DK points per game over his first five starts that he threw at least 90 pitches. I’m not sure which Teheran we’ll get on Monday, but I’m willing to take a shot against the strikeout-prone Padres.
German will face the Tigers in Comerica Park. He’s the biggest favorite on the slate and has an OTT of four. The Tigers have been a solid offense against lefties this season, but German has the highest strikeout rate on the slate. It also helps that this is the second half of a double-header as there may be a few more holes in the Tigers’ lineup after the early game. Every pitcher on the slate looks like a tournament play, so I’ll be fading cash games altogether and taking a few shots at pitcher ceilings in tournaments.
