Top Plays

Kenta Maeda

Maeda is the biggest favorite on the slate and it’s not close at this point. I try to target pitchers who have a strikeout percentage over 23% and Maeda’s was 25% last season. The Padres are not a great offense and Maeda will be aided by a pitchers ballpark and a great pitch-framer in Yasmani Grandal.

Mike Trout

Trout is facing a lefty on Tuesday and his price has come down on some of the major sites. The depressed price doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, and Trout is easier to fit in my lineup due to the lack of high-priced pitchers on the slate.

Jose Altuve

Speaking of players at depressed prices, I remember paying 5K for Altuve last season, and he’s sitting well below that price on DraftKings. He might not have the best matchup, but I’m not a big fan of the second base options on this slate unless an unexpected hitter makes his way to the top of the order.

Buster Posey

Another stud bat who’s too cheap is Posey. His price has also come down even though he will face a lefty. If you’re paying up at catcher, Posey is the clear top option. I like to choose hitters against pitchers who don’t have strikeout upside, and there are only three pitchers on the slate who had a worse strikeout percentage than Patrick Corbin last season.

Notes

I still think A.J. Pollock is too cheap for his talent and his spot in the order.

I also think Justin Turner is way too cheap on DraftKings and he’ll probably be my third baseman if he hits in the top four again.

My favorite stack is the Rockies top hitters against Zach Davies.

I’m also a big fan of stacking Cleveland righties against Martin Perez.
