MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/16/2017

Last Updated: 5/16/2017 – 7:00 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Dallas Keuchel

Keuchel will face a Marlins team who has hit lefties well this year, but I’m not sure it matters. The Marlins have quite a few lefties in their lineup, and outside of Giancarlo Stanton, I don’t really fear any of the Marlins righties. This may be a gut call, but I think Keuchel goes deep in this game and gets the win. Hopefully he can record enough strikeouts to make him the top DFS pitcher.

Rich Hill

Hill is my favorite GPP option of the day. He’s way too cheap for his talent and gets a great matchup against the Giants who have the fourth worst wRC+ against lefties. It’s a great ballpark, and if Yasmani Grandal is catching, it’s an added bonus. Hill has had blister issues, and Dave Roberts mentioned Hill could be moved to the bullpen if this start doesn’t go well, meaning Hill could get a quick hook, making him a GPP option.

Jimmy Nelson

Nelson gets the Padres who are tied for the seventh worst wRC+ and have the second-highest strikeout rate against righties. Nelson usually pitchers better at home, but this is a solid park upgrade for Nelson. At his price, he’s my preferred SP2 option on DraftKings, and has the upside of a 25+ DK point performance.

Kris Bryant/Anthony Rizzo/Cubs

The Cubs will see Bronson Arroyo in Wrigley Field. It looks like the wind will be blowing out, giving Bryant and Rizzo great shots at a home run against Arroyo who gives up 2.23 HR/9. Arroyo is already a bad pitcher, so give him tough pitching conditions and it’s time to tee off. Even if the wind dies down a bit, the Cubs are my favorite stack of the day. Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell, Javier Baez and Willson Contreras are all in play as well, but I’m more excited about them for tournaments.

Diamondbacks Righties

The Diamondbacks will face Tommy Milone in Chase Field. If for some reason, the wind in Wrigley becomes a non-factor, this would become just as solid of a stack. Milone has a 5.88 ERA, but a 4.01 SIERA, meaning he has been a bit unlucky to start the season, however, pitching in Chase Field against some powerful righties probably won’t be the cure. I love Paul Goldschmidt and will have a tough decision to make between him and Rizzo at first base. Yasmany Tomas and Chris Owings are two players I’ll be considering for cash games as well.

Notes

Along with the Cubs, the Reds make a solid stack as well if the wind holds. Adam Duvall would be my top choice from the Reds.

The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
