MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 6/14/2017

Top Plays
Johnny Cueto
If you’re playing the all day slate or an early slate, Cueto is the top option. On a day where just two pitchers have an OTT under four, there aren’t many safe options, but Cueto is one of them. He has an OTT of three and is the largest favorite of the day. The Royals strike out 21.5% of the time against righties, but have the second-worst wRC+. I expect Cueto to limit runs, and I’m hoping he can punch out enough batters to exceed value.
Michael Pineda
Much like Cueto’s matchup, this matchup offers some safety, but not a lot of upside. Pineda gets a big park upgrade and has an OTT of 3.5, second lowest on the day and lowest on the main slate. The Angels strike out just 20% of the time, but have the 23rd worst wRC+ against righties. It’s a safe matchup in reference to run prevention, but there isn’t much upside, especially since Pineda costs $11,100 on DraftKings. I would recommend a fade of Pineda in tournaments, but may consider him in cash games.
Dylan Bundy
Bundy will face the White Sox in Guarantee Rate Field and costs $7,700 on DraftKings. His OTT is 4.5, but I’ll take the under on that number. The White Sox have the fifth highest strikeout rate and the third lowest wRC+ against righties. Bundy hasn’t been great this year, but he’s been serviceable. On a day where pitching is ugly, Bundy make a strong case for an SP2 on DraftKings.
Manny Machado/Orioles
The Orioles face the White Sox in Chicago. It’s hot and humid in Chicago, creating great hitting conditions. The Orioles as a team are underpriced, especially Machado. I’m locking him into my cash game lineup on DraftKings. Due to their cheap prices, I’m also strongly considering Adam Jones and Mark Trumbo in both cash games and tournaments.
Miguel Cabrera
I have no idea why Cabrera is just $3,400 on DraftKings against Taijuan Walker. Cabrera is a near lock in cash games just due to his price. I’m having a hard time finding players to pay up for since there are so many value plays like Cabrera. The Tigers have a team run total of five, second highest on the day. Walker has a 3.46 ERA, but a 4.28 SIERA. He’s likely due for some regression, and I’m guessing it starts today.
Notes
Francisco Liriano projects very well, but he’s a tournament-only play due to his volatility.
J.D. Martinez is one of my favorite tournament plays at just $4,500 on DraftKings.
Nelson Cruz is too cheap at $4,500 on DraftKings and should be considered for both cash games and tournaments.
