MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 6/16/2017

Top Plays
Max Scherzer
Scherzer will pitch in Citi Field against the Mets. The Mets don’t strike out much against righties, and have the eighth best wRC+, but it’s Scherzer and he’s affordable at $12,900 on DraftKings. Scherzer is the top option of the day and will likely be in my cash game lineup. This isn’t the best matchup, but outside of Alex Wood, there are no pitchers I’m excited to play.
Alex Wood
As long as we know Wood won’t be on a pitch count, he’s my favorite pitcher of the day. He’ll get a park downgrade, but he’s been incredible this season and costs just $9,100 on DraftKings. The Reds are middle-of-the-pack in strikeout percentage against lefties, and rank 11th in wRC+. They’re a solid offense against lefties, but they don’t scare me as a unit. Wood is an elite pitcher and should be priced at $10K+ in each start. I’ll gladly take the discount while I can.
Joe Biagini
Biagini will face the White Sox in the Rogers Centre. The White Sox have improved their strikeout rate, but still rank 27th in wRC+ against righties. Biagini is a solid pitcher and is underpriced for his talent and matchup. He’s a great SP2 in tournaments who you can pair with either Wood or Scherzer.
Corey Seager/Dodgers lefties
Seager gets a huge park upgrade as he travels to Great American Ball Park. He’ll hold the platoon advantage against Tim Adleman, and the Dodgers have a team run total of 5.5. This is the same run total as the two teams in Coors Field. Yasmani Grandal will likely be my cash game catcher for some of the same reasons. I’ll also consider Cody Bellinger in cash games and will own plenty of Bellinger shares in tournaments.
Robinson Cano
Cano will face Tyson Ross in Globe Life Park. He’s too cheap on DraftKings at $4,100 and is a near lock in cash games. Cano gets a park upgrade and the temperature should be in the 90s by game time. These conditions and matchup will help Cano as well as the Mariners who have a team run total of five. I like the Mariners as a solid non-Coors tournament stack.
Notes
Steven Matz is a very solid SP2 at $7,000 on DraftKings. Many will avoid him when they see the Nationals, but he’s underpriced for his talent.
Eric Thames is too cheap at $4,000 on DraftKings and can be played in both cash games and tournaments.
I won’t have as much Coors exposure as I had last night due to many other teams (Dodgers, Mariners, Twins)Â in great spots for cheaper prices.
