MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 7/15/2017

Top Plays
Chris Sale
Sale will face the Yankees in Fenway Park. The Yankees have the 9th highest strikeout percentage and rank just 18th in wRC+ against lefties. Sale is a large favorite considering he’s going up against another ace in Luis Severino. It’s going to be tough to decide which ace to pay for on Saturday, but I’m leaning toward paying for Sale in cash games.
Corey Kluber
Kluber is priced $800 cheaper than Sale on DraftKings and has an interesting matchup against the Athletics. The A’s strike out at the second highest rate against righties, but the park suppresses strikeouts. The A’s also have the 9th highest wRC+, but Vegas seems to think Kluber can keep the A’s off the board as he’s tied for the lowest OTT on the day. Kluber is in consideration for cash games and is well in play for tournaments.
Madison Bumgarner
Bumgarner will face the Padres in Petco Park in his first start since going on the DL in April. He’s priced at $10,500, cheaper than we normally see him. The Padres strike out 26.1% of the time against lefties and have the second worst wRC+. He has the lowest OTT on the day, tied with a few other aces. I’m not sure I can play him in cash games in his first start back, but as long as he’s not on a pitch count, I like him for tournaments.
Robinson Cano/Nelson Cruz/Kyle Seager
Just like yesterday, the Mariners are in a great spot. They’ll face righty Mike Pelfrey in Guaranteed Rate Field. Pelfrey doesn’t give up as many home runs as James Shields, but still has a low strikeout rate, and a high SIERA. The Mariners prices have risen, so they’re not as obvious cash game plays as yesterday. I’m considering Cano, Cruz and Seager in cash games, and considering a full Mariners stack in tournaments.
Matt Kemp
While Kemp has been cold lately, he’s a good hitter and is priced too low. He’s my favorite punt play on the slate. He’ll have the platoon advantage against Patrick Corbin and will bat clean up. The Braves have a team run total of 4.5. When pairing two aces in cash games, you’re going to have to find punts, and Kemp is a good hitter in a good spot for a punt price.
Notes
Aaron Nola is a great SP2 in tournaments, and may be in play for cash games if you’re able to absorb some blow up risk.
Bryce Harper is again the top overall play against Luis Castillo in Great American Ball Park.
Jake Lamb is my favorite 3B play in tournaments. I think he’ll be overlooked, but he’s in a great park against a pitcher who struggles to get lefties out.
