DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/19/19
If I had to complain about the modern NBA, the one area that I would complain about is the lack of characters in the league. Where are the Gary Payton’s? The Xavier McDaniel’s? The Sir Charles’s? Instead, it seems like we have a bunch of guys who tweet about nonsense and while great on the court bring little flavor off it. I miss the 80’s, I’m old, anyway…
Top Plays
Kyrie Irving (9400 DK) @ Atlanta
What I love about my column (your opinion may vary) is that a guy can go from Neva Play to Top Play in a day and back. Kyrie Irving is that guy for this slate. Atlanta is not a good defensive team, but they play well enough at home to keep games close. This fact ensures that Kyrie plays major minutes in this game. By the way Kyrie dropped 18 dimes on the Raptors last week, I think he could do that again here.
Andre Drummond (8800 DK) vs. Sacramento
Only because he is 200 dollars cheaper than Blake Griffin. Drummond is a monster at home to the tune of 48.4 fantasy points per game. He is too cheap here against the fast-paced Kings and their porous defense.
Note: Of course you can play James Harden here, I am too scared not to, but that pick is too obvious at this point.
Value Play
Bam Adebayo (4900 DK) @ Chicago
If you type Bam Adebayo’s name in your I-Phone on the notes section you will get an explosion emoji, I love that. Anyway, Chicago is terrible and Bam is essentially in a timeshare with Hassan Whiteside. While Bam’s offense is not overly explosive, he should exceed value in this spot.
Gerald Green (4600 DK) vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Until LeBron comes back the Lakers are going to struggle. Gerald Green played 41 minutes against Brooklyn the other night and put up 29.25 fantasy points. While that is not outstanding, it’s enough value to cram more stars in your lineup.

Neva Play
Nikola Jokic (10,100 DK) vs. Cleveland
Another example of movement between Top Play and Neva Play. I love the Joker, I love the Joker in this spot, I do not love the Joker’s minutes in this spot against a Cleveland team that is probably going to be missing Tristan Thompson and will likely start Ante Zizic. If Jokic plays over 25 minutes in this game I will be shocked. At 10,100 I just don’t think he will have the playing time to reach value.
Trae Young (6800 DK) vs. Boston
I like Trae Young. I think because of Luka Doncic’s early success, Trae is getting a lot more heat and criticism than he deserves. That being said, Boston is a tough defensive team and if Young plays (he is questionable for this one), it’s not a great situation for him. I wonder what will happen next year if magically the Hawks luck into Zion Williamson? I would love to see him and Trae together.
