Hello, peeps. I’m back here with ya today to help you break down some of the top plays for tonight’s 7 game slate. Aside from my Lakers getting bent over yesterday, it was an overall fun slate that provided a ton of fantasy production and I’m already eyeing a few games for today that will do just the same. Keep in mind that with the trade deadline fast approaching, some players may or may not be held out so be on the lookout for news. Also, as always, top tier plays will not be mentioned. With that in mind, let’s jump right into it.

Point Guard

Kris Dunn – $6,600 vs NOP

I could just as easily put in Eric Bledsoe in this spot as he does have a great pace-up matchup at home but Dunn should be a more intriguing pick. While he hasn’t exactly shown the consistency we’d like him to have, he’s been an overall decent fantasy producer more than capable of giving you 30+ tonight. As of right now, this game has a healthy O/U of 223 and is listed as a pick-em so you know the opportunity for production is there. The fact that he’s at home facing the likes of guys named Frank and Tim makes it a much more appealing play. He’s more of a cash play tonight but I wouldn’t be surprised if he puts up 40 in this spot.

Shabazz Napier – $5,900 vs DEN

Although the Nuggets are still considered a formidable team, their once staunch defense is now nowhere near that level. Once a top 3 team in defensive efficiency, they are now all the way down to 14th. That’s great news for Bazz. Ever since Dinwiddie went down, the former UConn standout has shined in his new role alongside D-Angelo Russell as a go-to scorer for the team. He’s scored at least 15 real points in each of his last 6 games and with this one being at home, I see that streak continuing tonight. He’s more of a cash game play tonight as well as he tends to hover right around 30.

Other options: Eric Bledsoe, Tomas Satoransky, Ricky Rubio, Bryn Forbes

Shooting Guards

Zach LaVine – $7,300 vs NOP

Feels weird but am I seeing two Bulls….? Anyways, LaVine is in a terrific spot tonight in a home bout against the shorthanded Pelicans. He should be seeing some Holiday defense but that’s not enough to deter me with his usage. In fact, Pelicans are a bottom 10 team in defending against the position. He’s been in fairly good form for some time now and once again, this could easily be another 40 spot. He’s appropriately priced and a fine play in all formats.

Monte Morris – $6,400 @ BKN

40 spot against the Pels? Dayum…great performance from the kid. 40 spot against Houston? Wow is he on a roll….40 spot against the Wolves? WHO IS THIS GUY? Unfortunately, I played him only once in this tear but I’m sure he’s made a ton of people some very happy campers. With Murray’s prolonged absence, Morris has seen his minutes and production soar, providing solid scoring numbers and excellent peripherals.  He’s averaged 18.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 7 apg, good for about 35 fdp, and that’s without the steals. As long as Murray is out, Morris is in play.

Other options: To be honest, I do like most of the mid-tier SGs today ranging from Klay to even the likes of Belinelli. If I had to choose a few, I’d say Middleton, Hield, Iguodala, and possibly Shumpert as the ones more likely to hit value.

Small Forwards

Kelly Oubre Jr. – $6,800 @ UTA

I’m generally never a fan of targeting players against UTA but Oubre’s been consistent enough for me to look his way even in tougher matchups. In previous matchups against teams such as DEN, POR, and TOR, he was still able to get around 28. It’s obviously not what we’re aiming for but it’s respectable. I dont see Bridges faring too well against the UTA starters but I do see Oubre putting up some numbers against their bench. The fact that he also sees time at the 4 ahead of Bender also gives him more opportunities to produce. This play is not for the faint hearted but as the saying goes: scared money don’t make money.

Joe Ingles – $5,600 vs PHO

Going to the other side of this game, this profiles as a terrific spot for old man Jingle Bells. This is a massive pace-up for the Jazz so all players get a production boost. A few may not know this but Ingles has been one of the most underrated 3 pt shooters, averaging a mind-boggling 40% in his career. Enter Phoenix, who has allowed shooters to drain 36.3% of their long range attempts this season, 4th worst in the league. It’s also worth noting that it was also at this time last season that Ingles had one of his best stretches. It’s almost like the stars have aligned for him.

Other options: Otto Porter Jr., Rudy Gay, Will Barton, Jae Crowder, Davis Bertans

Power Forwards

Bobby Portis – $6,800 vs NOP

I honestly think there’s something wrong with me….I see 3 Bulls now….I might need to go to doctor after I finish this piece….sorry, where was I again? Portis is coming off a breakout game in which he dropped 33 pts against the Hornets on their home court to go along with 9 boards. As you may expect with a matchup against the Pelicans, this is a pace-up which means more production. This is a spot where he can both continue his hot shooting and get enough boards to get that elusive double-double. He does have noticeably better road splits but I think this is a case where the matchup trumps that. At sub $7k, I’m more than willing to play him.

Maxi Kleber – $5,200 vs CHA

With Dallas no longer blocking the door for DJ, the bigs now have a wide open path to a bigger role. Mejri was first thrust into that role but underwhelmed and as a result, was superglued to the bench in their very next game. With that in mind, that leaves a ton of usage for a guy like Kleber. In his start, he nearly put up a double-double in 26 minutes to go along with 2 blocks, finishing with a respectable 32. I’m more than willing to bet he can do the same against CHA. CHA is a team you can target at any position but I like to attack them with big men. It doesn’t hurt that CHA gets their shots swatted the most often this season. Kleber is appropriate priced at the moment so be sure to play him before his price goes up!

Other options: I’m gonna cheat again and go with a range of Faried down to Favors. If you’re looking for value, your guys are both Greens, Jackson, and Favors. If you’re looking for raw upside, Markkanen, Faried, and Bagley are your targets. I’ll also throw in Lyles there as your salary saver.

Centers

Jahlil Okafor – $7,800 @ CHI

I never thought I’d see the day when Okafor would be seen among the ranks of Rudy Gobert, Clint Capela, or DeMarcus Cousins. With all the injuries and rumors floating around the Big Easy, Okafor was dubbed as the new big man to keep the team competitive and he could not have done a better job. He’s already dropped 40 bombs on the likes of Marc Gasol, Andre Drummond, and Myles Turner, all very solid defenders. In a matchup against the Bulls, Okafor could go nuclear. Randle is currently listed as questionable to play but even if he does, Okafor’s overall production combined with this matchup is too hard to pass up. Lock him in everywhere.

Willie Cauley-Stein – $5,900 vs HOU

Will the real Cauley-Stein please come back? Once capable of dropping 30+ a night and a possible 40 spot, he’s now become a bit volatile and capable of dropping a deuce in your lineup. Nevertheless, this is a good spot for him. Home splits are always something of a requirement to play WCS so that’s a check. With Capela out of the picture, centers against HOU have been a thing. To top it all off, he’s under $6k. Let’s recap all that one more time: He’s in a great matchup at home with good minutes and sub $6k in a game with the highest O/U and a 2 pt spread. He’ll be an excellent GPP option that goes underowned.

Other options: Brook Lopez, Cody Zeller, Kevon Looney (birthday narrative)
