DFS NBA Fanduel/Draftkings Lineup Advice 12/5/18

DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup 12/5/18

What’s up, everyone. I promise, soon I will be putting out more NBA content, I’ve just been so consumed with NFL  that I haven’t had time to research the NBA like I want to. With the NFL season coming to a close soon, I will be diving head first into the NBA.

My podcast was postponed, so I was able to dive into the Wednesday slate this week, but before we get to today’s picks, I want to encourage you to sign up for our Christmas Day NBA contest on Draftkings. It’s only $5 to enter and we are taking reserves now. You can click the banner below to enter. I’m hoping we can fill to the max 200 entries.

NBA DFS Legend

Nothing But NetMy top plays of the night at his position.
DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court ShotOtherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player.
Blocked Shot A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.”

**Main Slate

Point Guard

Nothing But Net | John Wall @ ATL $9,400

Wall is playing in the highest Over/Under game on the slate, against one of the fastest paced teams in the league, that also struggle to defend to the position giving up over 50 FanDuel points per game this season to PGs. He is nearly $2,000 cheaper than Westbrook on Fanduel, and while he may not have the upside of Westbrook, I’d put his floor at 40 FanDuel points for this game.

Wall is out, so I’m laying down a little more to Ben Simmons.

Dunk | J.J. Barea @ NO $5,900

Much like Wall, Barea is also playing against a fast-paced team that struggles to defend the PG position. I would expect Frazier to draw the assignment of defending Barea with the better defender, Jrue Holiday, likely on Luka Donic.

Half-Court Shot | Tomas Satoransky $3,800 @ ATL

Satoransky has logged over 20 minutes over his last four games and while his numbers haven’t been that impressive, at $3,800 in a game with pace and no defense, he could easily pay off his 3.8k salary.

Blocked Shot | Russell Westbrook @BKN $11,000

I wouldn’t completely fade Westbrook, but $11,000 is a lot to spend on such a large slate when there are other PGs that can put up similar numbers — as long as Westbrook doesn’t go nuclear. He offers more upside than every PG on the slate, but he would have to hit his ceiling to truly justify his salary.

Honorable Mentions: Reggie Jackson $5,200, Tim Frazier $5,400

Shooting Guard

Nothing But Net | DeMar DeRozan $8,400 @LAL

DeRozan is from Compton, CA and through his career has always loved playing in L.A. In three games this season in L.A. (2 vs. Lakers, 1 vs. Clippers) he has averaged over 61 FanDuel points, including 63.6 and a 61.4 in two games vs. the Lakers this season. The Lakers are dead last in defending the SG position, giving up a shade under 44 FanDuels per game on the year.

Dunk | Jordan Clarkson $5,800 vs GSW

This is the first time Clarkson has faced the Warriors since the Finals last season. He was not a big part of the Cavs rotation in the Finals and didn’t really do much in that series. This season, Clarkson is playing around 28-to-32 minutes per game — the last time Clarkson played 30 or more minutes vs. Steph Curry and the Warriors he was a member of the Lakers and he dropped 39.2 FanDuel points on them. I know it’s not an apples-to-apples comparison and an extremely small sample size, but I really like him in this high-paced game.

Half-Court Shot | Kent Bazemore $5,300 vs WAS

With Taurean Prince out a least a few weeks, Bazemore should draw the start here, and as I’ve mentioned a few times already, this will be a high-paced, high scoring affair. Bazemore will give you some cheap exposure to this game with a good deal of upside at his $5,300 salary.

Blocked Shot | Klay Thompson $7,200 @ CLE

Anytime Thompson is on the road and is priced over $7,000 I tend to fade him. Now, over the last few road games, that would have been a mistake, as he has played well. However, history tells me that Thompson is not as good on the road as he is at home and he is so scoring dependant, that if his shot isn’t falling he isn’t going to give you much else.

Honorable Mentions: Malcolm Brogdon $6,400, Wesley Matthews $5,100

Small Forward

Nothing But Net | Kawhi Leonard $9,800 vs PHI

As the “cheapest” and the only sub-10kof the four stud SFs on this slate, Leonard is an easy choice for me. The pace and over/under in this game both favor Leonard and he has already dropped a 57.4 FanDuel game on them earlier in the season.

Dunk | Miles Bridges $5,300 @ MIN

Marvin Williams is expected to miss at least a week, leaving Bridges to pick up some extra minutes. Bridges filled in for Williams in Sunday’s contest vs. the Pelicans when Williams went down in the season quarter and he logged nearly 30 minutes of playing time putting up a season-high 33.1 FanDuel points. The Wolves struggle to defend the SF position giving up 45.6 FanDuel points per game, only the Trailblazers give up more on the season.

Half-Court Shot | Davis Bertans $3,500 @ LAL

Bertans has played over 24 minutes per game over his last two games after being inserted into the starting lineup, and in games this season in which he has logged at least 24 minutes, he averages over 20 FanDuel points.

Blocked Shot | Danilo Gallinari $7,200 @ MEM

This game represents the second lowest over/under and one of the slowest paced on the slate. There is only one player I want from this game, but more on him later…

Honorable Mentions: Rudy Gay $5,500, E’Twaun Moore $4,400

Power Forward

Nothing But Net | Blake Griffin $9,000 @ MIL

If you are not paying up for Anthony Davis, then your viable options decline at a steep curve as you move down the list. Griffin offers the safest floor at power forward having scored 37 or more Fanduel in eight of his last nine games. I think this is a “pay-up” or “punt” position tonight, but Griffin is a solid top-tier option.

Dunk | John Collins $7,400 vs WAS

We are going to the well once more in this game as Collins has put up two consecutive 35-plus point games vs. the Thunder and Warriors. Tonight he gets another high-paced game with the Wizards in town.

Half-Court Shot | Jerami Grant $5,000 @ LAC

Grant is the only player I want from this game, and I don’t love him either. The Clippers give up 49.1 FanDuel points to PFs, which is bottom 10 in the league and they aren’t a good rebounding team.

Blocked Shot | Tobias Harris $8,100 @ MEM

I’m fading him for the same reason I’m fading everyone in this game with the exception of Grant.

Honorable Mentions: Serge Ibaka $5,900,

Center

Nothing But Net | Nikola Jokic $9,400 @ ORL

Jokic’s price jumped up after his 62.7 point game vs. the Raptors, but it’s still not too high for me to play him against the “other” Nikola (Vucevic), an average defender at best.

Dunk | Steven Adams $7,700 @ BKN

The best matchup on the slate goes to Adams as the Nets give up 64.9 Fanduel points to the C position — only the Suns are worse.

Half-Court Shot | Kevin Looney $4,800 @ CLE

No Draymond Green again and at $4,800, he should see close to 30 minutes. He just put up 37.3 Fanduel points in 28 minutes a few nights ago.

Blocked Shot | Nikola Vucevic $9,500 vs DEN

Vucevic has struggled against Jokic, averaging only 32 FanDuel points over the last two seasons (small sample size), and he just had a 26.6 point game against him in November.

Honorable Mentions: Karl-Anthony Towns $9,600 vs CHA, Brook Lopez $5,500, Jordan Bell $3,800
