DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup Advice 12/5/16

Well, yesterday’s article had some big time hits (Jamychal Green) and some big time misses (Rajon Rondo), but all-in-all, I hit more than I miss. The spreadsheet I’ve been referring to over the last few columns is nearing a public release. It has been good to me for over a week now.

If you haven’t checked out FanPicks.com yet, take a minute and head over and register. If you haven’t heard me talk about it yet, it’s a smaller DFS site that has a few things the “big boys” don’t. They still do college football and basketball, plus they have multi-sport contests. Just follow this link and get 110 percent on your first deposit.

And now on to tonight’s slate…

NBA DFS Legend

Nothing But NetMy top plays of the night at his position.
DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court ShotOtherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player.
Blocked Shot A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.”

**Main Slate

Point Guard

Nothing But Net | Russell Westbrook $12,600 @ ATL

DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup 12/5/16It’s impossible not to have him as the top play nearly every night. His price tag is getting ridiculously high and at this rate, he’ll be over 13k soon. I have no issue fading him in your GPP lineups, but he needs to be in every cash lineup.

Dunk | Isaiah Thomas $8,400 @HOU

Thomas has been money in the bank pretty much all season. He is coming off a 52.3 FanDuel point night against the Sixers. Even with the return of defensive specialist Patrick Beverley, I like Thomas to be good for 45-plus tonight.

Half-Court Shot | Shelvin Mack $3,600 @NOR

George Hil has already been ruled out for this game, and — despite Mack not getting the starting nod in either of the last two contests — he has received more minutes and been more productive than has starter Dante Exum. Coming off the bench could actually benefit him as he won’t see as much of the Pelicans PG Jrue Holiday. Holiday is a great defender, but with Mack coming off the bench he should see more of Tim Fraizer, who is not nearly the defender that Holiday is.

Blocked Shot | Jrue Holiday $7,100 vs MEM

Speaking of Holiday, I won’t be using him in my lineups tonight. He hasn’t been at the top of his game recently having failed to hit value in his last six contests. A matchup with the slow-paced Grizzlies won’t do anything to help that either.

Shooting Guard

Nothing But Net | James Harden $11,400 vs BOS

Let me add a disclaimer here before I offer my analysis. My spreadsheet has Harden outside the top three at shooting guard for the first time all season. He checks in at No. 5 tonight. The spreadsheet relies 100-percent on raw numbers, and the fact that Harden had a dud last game and the Celtics are one of the best back-court defending teams in the league, he slips to No.5. So while I still have him as my top play, I’ll leave a “buyer beware” tag here.

Dunk | Dwyane Wade $7,000 vs POR

This pick is 100 percent spreadsheet driven. Dwyane Wade is the top rated shooting guard according to the sheet. He has a great matchup in the Trailblazers and he should be well rested after taking the last game off (one could argue the entire Bulls team took the last game off, but that’s neither here nor there).

Half-Court Shot | Tony Allen $4,100 @ NOR

There really isn’t anything I love for value at the shooting guard spot, so I would suggest paying up at the position, but if you absolutely want to punt at SG, Allen is a good option. He has hit value over his last three games, and he has a great matchup with the Pelicans. His upside is severely lacking, but at $4,100 he could offer some salary relief.

Blocked Shot | None

Small Forward

Nothing But Net | Kevin Durant $10,400 vs IND

DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup 12/5/16I feel like I’m copping out on all my “Nothing But Net” calls, as I’ve literally taken the highest priced guy at every position so far, but when the highest price guy is far and away the best option I can’t help but put them at No. 1.

Dunk | Gordon Hayward $7,900 @ LAL

Hayward is actually the top small forward according to the spreadsheet tonight, and with a great matchup and his play of late, why not?

Half-Court Shot | Jae Crowder $5,200 @ HOU

This is another pick that is 100 percent spreadsheet driven. Crowder has actually been less productive since having his minutes restriction removed. That will change tonight. Only the Suns are worse than the Rockets at points allowed to opposing small forwards.

Blocked Shot | LeBron James $9,400 @ TOR

Whenever I spend 9k or more on a player, I want a sure thing. James has been anything but lately. Over his last seven games, James has FanDuel point totals of 29.1, 39.5, 25.8, and 28.5. That’s four games over his last seven in which he has dramatically missed hit value.

Power Forward

Nothing But Net | Anthony Davis $11,900 vs MEM

Once again, I’m taking the highest priced player as my top play. I apologize, but I can’t realistically put anyone else here. The injury risk is always a factor with the Brow, but he can go off for 65-plus on any given night.

Dunk | Taj Gibson $5,900 vs POR

Power forward is an ugly position tonight. There are more “out” and “game time decisions” than there are good plays. Gibson threw up a dud the other night in Dallas, but then again, so did everyone on the Bulls team not named Jimmy Butler. The Trailblazers are the worst team in the league in FanDuel points allowed to power forwards.

Half-Court Shot | Markieff Morris $4,700 @ BKN

This is a true H-CS. Morris has put up some clunkers this season, but he is capable of putting up big games. He is still getting 35-plus minutes a game, and a matchup with the Nets might be just what the doctored ordered. I wouldn’t use him in a cash game lineup, but in a gpp for a high-upside guy, I’ll take the risk.

Blocked Shot | Draymond Green $8,000 vs IND

I said the other night that I didn’t like paying 8k for a guy who is the fourth scoring option on his team and I was right to fade him. He put up 36.5 FanDuel points, which isn’t bad in its own right, but it’s not what everyone was looking for in that great matchup with the Suns.

Center

Nothing But Net | Marc Gasol $7,300 @ NOR

Gasol has been a monster lately. Three of his last five games he has gone over 40 FanDuel points, and he is doing it differently every night. Some nights he fills up the assist column like the eight he put up on Lakers, or the five blocks he had against the Magic, or the eight rebounds and near double-doubles he had against both the Raptors and the Hornets.

Dunk | Joel Embiid $6,400 vs DEN

Embiid was the top play overall for center on the spreadsheet and rightfully so. As long as he suits up, which I expect him to, Ebiid has been nothing short of spectacular in his starts. He has 40-plus in the last two games in which he has played.

Half-Court Shot | Robin Lopez $5,100 vs POR

Semi-revenge game? Okay, maybe not, but Lopez continues to be a good choice for a value center, not to mention, the Blazers are bottom four in FanDuel points allowed to centers.

Blocked Shot | Dwight Howard $7,600 vs OKC

I refuse to use Howard until his price comes down.
