DFS NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup Advice 2/1/18

I’m writing this before the 10:30 games from last night have even tipped off, so some of the stats I give tonight might be a bit outdated. Raise your hand if you were screwed by Eric Gordon last night? Kevin Love? Or maybe you didn’t play James Harden? Yeah, it was one of those nights. Luckily for me, I had Harden in one lineup and I could still break even on the night with a good game from DeAndre Jordan.

This is all old news to you by the time you read this, so I will jump into today’s column. Before we get to today’s column, I wanna mention again, you can get all of our content delivered straight to your phone from our app, complete with push notifications. Download it here.

DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.

Guards

Nothing But Net | Kyrie Irving $14,000 vs NYK

Irving has been hot lately despite the Celtics’ struggles. He has five straight games with 40 or more FanDuel points, including a 57.9 explosion against the Magic. The Knicks are on their second game of a back-to-back after playing last night against the Nets, their legs may be tired allowing Irving to reach the 40-plus FanDuel point plateau again.

Dunk | Dennis Smith Jr. $12,000 @ PHO

DSJ has been solid but not overly impressive over his five games, but I think this is a good spot for him to put up one of those 40-FanDuel point nights that we saw from him earlier in the month. The Suns are the third fastest team in the league with over 102 possessions per game, whereas the Mavericks are one of the slowest at a snail-like 96.94 per game. What does that mean for DSJ? This will be a pace up game for him, which means more shots and more shots means more Fanduel points.

Half-Court Shot | Terry Rozier $9,500 vs NYK

Marcus Smart is out for two weeks, giving Rozier the chance to play more minutes, which he did two nights ago scoring 32.8 FanDuel points in 29 minutes. Tonight he gets a Knicks team on the second half of a back-to-back and that give up over 40 Fanduel points to shooting guards over the last four weeks. If he gets close to 30 minutes again, which he should, he should easily flirt with 30-plus Fanduel points tonight.

Blocked Shot | Victor Oladipo $15,000 vs MEM

Oladipo is still priced like an elite fantasy option, but his play on the court says otherwise. Save the grand and roster Irving.

Honorable Mentions: Elfrid Payton %12,500, Jordan Clarkson $11,500, Tim Hardaway Jr. $11,000

Forwards

Nothing But Net | Brandon Ingram $12,000 @ ORL

Ingram is a little lower priced than my normal NBNs, but that’s just how much I like him today at his price. The Magic give up over 109 NBA points per game this season, fourth worst in the league, while the Lakers are top 10 in points scored. The Lakers are also the fastest paced team in the league, meaning this will be a high scoring affair, you will want to have exposure to this game.

Dunk | Josh Richardson $11,500 @ CLE

Richardson got his mojo back over the last three games after a dud against the Rockets on January 22. Since that game, he has increased his FanDuel point totals in each of the last three games, and he has done so by filling up the box score. Tonight he gets the second worst team in points allowed to small forwards, and one of the worst defenses in the league in total points allowed.

Half-Court Shot | Kyle Kuzma $10,000 @ ORL

I mentioned earlier that you are going to want to have some exposure to this game, and if you want to do it cheaply, Kuzma is your guy. He is more of a tournament play than a cash game guy, but in a game with this much scoring, and very little defense, Kuzma could explode off the bench.

Blocked Shot | LeBron James $17,000 vs MIA

The second game of a back-to-back and he is $17,000. No thanks.

Honorable Mentions: Ben Simmons $14,500, Jarell Martin $9,500, Josh Jackson $9,000

Centers

Nothing But Net | Dwight Howard

My lock of the night. Howard quite famously said a few nights ago that he wanted to “kill” the Hawks, and he went out and scored 60 FanDuel points on them. He gets to play them again for revenge game part 2, this time in Atlanta. No stats on this one, narrative street 101, play Howard.

Dunk | Julius Randle $11,500 @ ORL

Here is that game again. The Magic are dead last in points in the paint defense and fifth worst in points allowed to centers over the last four weeks. All that bodes well for Randle in a game that should be high-paced and high-scoring. I wish I could play two centers, I’d have Randle and Howard on my roster.

Half-Court Shot | Bismack Biyombo $10,000 @ ORL

On the other side of that game is Bed Bath and Biyombo. I really don’t see a scenario where I roster him over Howard or Randle, but if you like to pay down at center, he is your best option. I know I’m beating a dead horse, but this game should be crazy high-scoring.

Blocked Shot | Enes Kanter $11,500 @ BOS

Please, don’t chase his points from last night. History tells us he will have a bad night in this game following that huge one last night.

Honorable Mentions: Hassan Whiteside $13,500 @ CLE
