DFS NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup Advice 3/8/18

I haven’t posted a Starting 5 column in awhile, I’ve been too busy working on updating my spreadsheet. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can view it here. The NBA season is sadly winding down, and it’s becoming difficult to determine who is playing each night with all these teams tanking… I mean letting their young guys play.

We have a nice sized five-game slate tonight to work with and we have a lot of Western Conference playoff teams. What does that have to do with anything, you ask? Easy, the Western Conference playoff race is so tight, with a mere four games separating the three seed Trailblazers with the 10-seeded Utah Jazz, that these teams can’t afford to take nights off or they could find themselves out of the playoffs. Stacking those teams might be a good idea, they are the Timberwolves, Spurs, Warriors

Stacking those teams might be a good idea with the Timberwolves, Spurs, Warriors and the Thunder all on the slate. The Warriors are pretty safe from falling out of the playoffs, but if they want to fend off the Rockets for home-court, they need to keep winning.

Let’s look at tonight’s slate…

NBA DFS Legend

Nothing But NetMy top plays of the night at his position.
DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court ShotOtherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player.
Blocked Shot A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.”

NBA FanDuel Lineup 3/8/18

Nothing But Net | Russell Westbrook $17,000 vs PHO

On a short slate like tonight and a matchup with the lowly Suns, a team he dropped 72.8 FanDuel points on about a week ago, it will be hard to fade Westbrook. He has had a few “bad” games over the last few weeks, but let’s face it, it’s Westbrook and he can go “Westbrook” at any time.

Dunk | Devin Booker $13,000 @ OKC

I know I mentioned I wanted to try and stick with teams in the playoff hunt, but Booker has no conscience when it comes to jacking up shots. The fact that the Suns are tanking will only encourage him to shoot even more. He put up 56.2 FanDuel points in that game I mentioned above. If this game can stay close, it should be a high scoring affair.

Half-Court Shot | Dwyane Wade $9,500 vs PHI

It’s hard to ignore what Wade has done in Miami while still coming off the bench. He has three 30-plus FanDuel points over his last five games and is has a decent matchup with a Sixers team giving up 40.21 Fanduel points over the last four weeks.

Blocked Shot | Kyrie Irving $13,000 @ MIN

His knee issue is the only thing keeping me from playing Irving tonight. He is a guy that relies on speed and quick change of direction, both something that could put stress on that knee. If he is limited in any way, I’d rather avoid him.

Honorable Mentions: Steph Curry $15,000, Dejounte Murray $11,500, Danny Green $9,000

Forwards

NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup 2/8/18

Nothing But Net | Paul George $14,000 vs PHO

We are going back to the well again with this game. George had 42.5 in that game a week ago, and I’m playing a little bit of the “due factor” with two straight sub-par games, at least from a fantasy perspective. The Suns allow 43.33 Fanduel points to small forwards, George should end up well into the 40s tonight.

Dunk | DeMarre Carroll $11,000 @ CHA

With five-straight double-digit NBA point games, Carroll has been on a roll of late. His 6.6 rebounds per game average gives him a pretty safe floor with his scoring giving him some upside. He plays close to 30 minutes a game, and the style the Hornets play, this game shouldn’t be a blowout.

Half-Court Shot | Justise Winslow $9,500 vs PHI

Winslow has been playing really well over his last four games, and even though he had a bit of a down game in Washington, a little home cooking in Miami should get him back on track. His three games previous to the Washington game were all at home, and he had at least 28 in all three with a high of 43.9.

Blocked Shot LaMarcus Aldridge $13,000 @ GSW

He was injured in three games ago and while he only missed one game, he didn’t play particularly in his first game back and I don’t like his prospects against the Warriors.

Honorable Mentions: Dario Saric $11,000, Josh Richardson $11,000

Centers

Nothing But Net | Dwight Howard $13,000 vs BKN

The Nets give up so many points to the center position, Howard already has 12 Fanduel points. Howard hasn’t been quite as good as he was in his dominant January, but he is still capable of putting up a double-double and if you throw in two or three blocks he will more than pay off his salary.

Dunk | Steven Adams $12,000 vs  PHO

Well, I now have two guards, a forward and a center from this game, now if we could only afford all of them. Adams may be the most consistent fantasy player in the entire NBA He is going to give you 30-to-40 Fanduel points pretty much every night. There are only two teams worse then the Nets at giving up fantasy points to centers, the Suns are one of them, in fact, they are the worst team in the league over the last four weeks in that category.

Half-Court Shot | Jarrett Allen $9,000 @ CHA

I don’t particularly love Allen, but forced to choose a punt, it would have to be Allen by process of elimination.

Blocked Shot | None

Honorable Mentions: Karl-Anthony Towns $15,500
