DFS NFL DraftKings/Fanduel Lineup Advice 8/23 (Preseason)

Josh Allen (BUF) @ DET

Allen has looked pretty good so far this preseason and should continue his stellar play with an extended run against a Lions secondary that was 31st in DVOA.

Jameis Winston (TB) vs CLE

I went back and looked at HC Bruce Arians’ coaching career at Arizona, and he gave his starting QBs 50 percent or more of the snaps in Week 3 of the preseason. I’d expect the same for Winston, and, with the weapons he has at his disposal, it should be a big night for him.

Dontrell Hilliard (CLE) @ TB

With Nick Chubb already ruled out for the preseason, I’d expect Kareem Hunt to get the start, but with an 8-game suspension to start the season, the Browns will want to see what Hilliard has to offer as the likely backup to Chubb for the first half of the season. Hunt is a viable option as well, but I’d expect him to be fairly high owned — Hilliard is a good pivot.

Dare Ogunbowale (TB) vs CLE

Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones will likely start the game, but Ogunbowale has been lighting it up this preseason and is in a heated competition with Andre Ellington for the RB3 on this roster. In the last three years in Arizona, HC Arians did not give his starting RBs the largest workload in Week 3. In fact, in his final season in 2017, David Johnson’s breakout season, Johnson played only two snaps and didn’t log a single touch. Barber and Jones are in no way as good as Johnson, but I would guess they still play a limited role.

Devin Singletary (BUF) @ DET

Shady McCoy and Frank Gore have been in the league long enough that they don’t need the Week 3 dress rehearsal to be ready for the regular season. The Bills will likely want to see what Singletary can do in an extended run with the No. 1 offense.

Ty Johnson (DET) vs (BUF)

The Lions have raved about Johnson’s pass-catching ability and with Kerryon Johnson’s injury history, I think they might give the rookie Johnson more work.

Rashard Higgins (CLE) @ TB

With Odell Beckham Jr. not playing, Higgins will be in the starting lineup with the first-team. He’ll be the lowest owned of the Browns pass-catchers, I’ll take my chances on him.

Chris Godwin (TB) vs CLE

No Mike Evans, Winston playing 50-plus percent and Bruce Arians’ pass-happy offense should equal a big night for Godwin as the top pass catcher.

Cole Beasley (BUF) @ DET

In limited time on the field together, QB Josh Allen has targetted Beasley more than anyone else. I like Beasley more on DraftKings then Fanduel because of the PPR scoring.

Duke Williams (BUF) @ DET

Williams is a young receiver trying to make this roster and should see enough playing time to be a dart throw.

Brandon Powell (DET) vs BUF

I expected Powell to give free-agent signee Danny Amendola a run for the slot position, but, unfortunately, it looks like Amendola has won that job. However, Amendola’s a veteran player and one that has an extensive injury history, there is no reason to risk him too much in this game, opening the door for Powell to show he still belongs on this roster.

Kenny Golladay (DET) vs BUF

I will need to make sure he is playing, but he is my favorite to get a TD with the first-team offense.

O.J. Howard (TB) vs CLE

Have you noticed that I love the Bucs offensive players tonight? Howard is a good bet to have one or two big plays.

Dawson Knox (BUF) @ DET

Knox, once a favorite to start Week 1 before his injury, is now back at practice and should see a ton of snaps in this game if he is to show he can still be their starter.

Buffalo Bills @ DET

Of all the QBs on tonight’s slate, Stafford is the only one that could see limited action as the only established veteran of the four. The means the backup QBs could see more time, advantage Bills defense.
