Top Pitching Options
Francisco Liriano (DK – $11300, FD – $10600) –Liriano is far and away the most talented pitcher on the day and has a great matchup against the Brewers. Liriano has a 3.39 SIERA and 26.1% strikeout rate on the year. In contrast, the Brewers have a league worst 0.283 wOBA (T29th) and 21.4%s strikeout rate (17th) against LHP. Not much more analysis is needed here, leaving Liriano as both the safest and highest upside pitcher on the slate.
Mat Latos (DK – $7300, FD – $6200) – You can tell your options are grim when my second play is Mat Latos. This also emphasizes why GPPs are better plays than cash games. The Padres have a pedestrian 0.300 wOBA (26th) and 21.4% strikeout rate (23rd) against RHP and Latos has pitched serviceably in his four starts for the Dodgers with a 4.20 SIERA (3.99 xFIP) and 15.5% strikeout rate. Those numbers aren’t eye popping, but with a nice matchup Latos makes a nice GPP play.
Other Options: Jordan Zimmerman (WSH) – cash; Edinson Volquez (KC) – GPP
Top Hitting Options
Ryan Zimmerman 1B/3B (DK – $4200, FD – $3800) – Bryce Harper makes a phenomenal play today, as Wisler allows a 0.444 wOBA to LHH, but you didn’t need much encouragement to know he’s a great play. Zimmerman also makes a great play as he’s caught fire of late with a 0.422 wOBA and 0.386 ISO over the last 14 days. He had a big game last night with a double-dong game against the Cardinals. Expect the hot streak to continue as the Nationals should puts lots of runs on the board in this one. They are my favorite stack of the day.
Carlos Gonzalez OF (DK – $4300, FD – $4700) – The first day of a Coors series always seems to bring an inexplicably underpriced option and this time it’s CarGo. Ryan Vogelsong allows a 0.375wOBA to LHH and CarGo has a sick 0.408 wOBA and 0.321 ISO vs. RHP. At only $4300 on Draftkings, he’s as close to a must play is it gets.
Gregor Blanco OF (DK – $3900, FD – $2500) – Blanco has been hitting 2nd for the Giants against lefties and now gets to face Chris Rusin in Coors. If he receives a premium lineup spot again at this price on both Draftkings and Fanduel, he’s a bargain.
