FanDuel MLB DFS Advice 4/15/2019

Unfortunately it’s Monday again. That doesn’t mean that you have to stop playing DFS though. Hopefully you have been doing well using my picks and have made some money. The slate should be a little more normal with the typical guys back in the starting lineup. Apologies for the poor performances on Sunday. Let’s dive on in for some pitcher and hitter locks and value plays.

Pitcher Lock

Matt Shoemaker (TOR) $8,300 @ MIN

Toronto Blue Jays starter Matt Shoemaker falls in the middle of the pitchers based on salary. There aren’t any low salary guys that I care for today so I’m fine with paying up a bit for a pitcher. That being said, I’m not confident in paying up for the top few guys. Trevor Bauer gets the Seattle Mariners. Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Nola face each other, and it’ll be Clayton Kershaw’s first start of the season. Shoemaker has won all three of his starts this year. He has a 0.92 ERA and has stranded 90.2% of runners. His 8.69 K/9 isn’t perfect, but he could definitely rack them up against the Minnesota Twins. He should provide 35+ fantasy points while being cheaper than the top options who’ll likely be highly owned.

Infielder Locks

(1B) Paul Goldschmidt (STL) $3,800 @ MIL

Paul Goldschmidt has one of the better price tags that he has had all year. The matchup against Freddy Peralta could be good. Of course you have to worry about the bullpen, mainly Josh Hader, but Golschmidt has solid upside. I’m going to stack him with Paul DeJong. He hasn’t been quite as good as I had hoped, and I would like to see him move back to the third spot of the order because he only has 10 RBI so far. He has shown off power with six home runs, and he has been disciplined at the plate despite his low .200 average. He has a .161 BABIP which signals he has just gotten unlucky with shifts and placements of his contact. Many DFS players will fade him due to the apparently poor numbers but I like the scoring potential he has today.

Outfielder Locks

Whit Merrifield (KAN) $4,300 @ CWS

Kansas City Royals outfielder Whit Merrifield continues to have a great season. He draws the matchup against Ervin Santana who has a 17.18 ERA in the early going. The Royals offense has been pretty decent this year, and Merrifield has done his fair share of the lifting as he has a .328 average with 14 runs and five stolen bases. He might be the most consistent outfielder that you can get for this slate.

Alex Gordon (KAN) $3,900 @ CWS

As you can tell I like the Kansas City Royals today. There are pletny of guys that you can get for a good price such as Chris Owings or Jorge Soler. That being said, Alex Gordon is on fire this year. He’s hitting .360 with 13 runs and 13 RBI. He’s hitting an even higher .371 against right handed pitching this year. Gordon and Merrifield can score a lot of runs from the top of this lineup.
