FanDuel MLB DFS Advice 4/18/2019

The slate is small for Wednesday so it’s important to find the value in the right places and make sure the locks hit. Weather doesn’t look like it’ll be a factor so let’s jump right into it.
Pitcher Value Play

Tanner Roark (CIN) $7,300 @ SDP

The pitching in this slate is honestly kind of disgusting. Many will probably pay up for Domingo German but I have a few concerns with that. He has only went longer than five innings once this year, and this three starts were against the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers who aren’t quite as good of offenses as the Kansas City Royals. While I usually like paying down for pitchers, the few options like Homer Bailey, Zach Davies and Kyle Freeland all have tough matchups.

Cincinnati Reds starter Tanner Roark is going to be my play for today. He isn’t quite a lock for me because I wouldn’t blame you for taking a chance on one of the cheaper guys, but he isn’t quite cheap enough to call a value. Roark has a good matchup at San Diego where the Padres rank 21st in runs scored. His 4.30 ERA may scare away fantasy owners, but he has a 9.20 K/9 that can get him quite a few points especially against a team that strikes out a lot.

Infielder Value Plays

(2B) Dee Gordon (SEA) $3,100 @ LAA

Some of the Seattle Mariners players have some great value considering they have been one of the best teams in baseball this year. They could have a great stack if you pick the right guys that hit a home run. I like Dee Gordon the most because he adds the possibility of stolen bases. He has 11 RBI and 10 runs. His last few games haven’t been great, so it may be a little risky, but he might have a fairly low ownership percentage. Gordon is a good GPP play.

(SS) Scott Kingery (PHI) $3,500 @ COL

Even though this price isn’t quite value, it’s $900 cheaper than the top options in a small slate. Scott Kingery has homered in his last two games, and he’ll be playing in Colorado for a hitter friendly park. I think that a Phillies stack could be profitable today. Opposing pitcher Kyle Freeland has a 5.40 ERA and faces a tough opponent in the Phillies. Kingery is baatting .480 right now and will be in a good spot for some RBI today. There’s a possibility Kingery wont start as his role is not solidified, but he has been hot of late.

Outfielder Locks

Mike Trout (LAA) $5,000 vs SEA

Mike Trout is my only outfielder lock for today, but of course Christian Yelich would be a fine play. He costs just $200 more and is the MVP for a reason. However, Mike Trout has had Felix Hernandez’s number for quite some time. In 85 at-bats he has eight home runs and eight walks. I like his chances of getting on base in many different ways in this game. His wOBA is .477 against Hernandez so he’ll get on base while also scoring a lot of fantasy points. He’s freshly back from a groin injury so I’m hoping that might lower his ownership. He’s averaging 16.43 fantasy points per game.

Outfielder Values

Clint Frazier (NYY) $3,400 vs KAN

New York Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier has played well recently. He’s batting .333 with four home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs. He’s averaging 11.88 fantasy points per game and has a favorable matchup against Homer Bailey. The name Homer is a very bad one for a pitcher. Bailey has a 5.29 ERA and will have a tough challenge against the Yankees even though they are banged up right now.
