Patrick Corbin (WAS) $8,400 @ COL
I think Patrick Corbin could have another good day for the Washington Nationals. He does have a somewhat tough matchup against the Colorado Rockies, but he has been a strikeout machine so far this year. In four starts he has 33 total. His ERA is at 2.36 and he has a 0.92 WHIP. I look for him to go seven innings and provide you with 40-50 fantasy points. A few other options would be Frankie Montas or Luke Weaver.
Infielder Value Plays
(3B) Matt Carpenter (STL) $3,100 vs MIL
Matt Carpenter has a fairly cheap price tag as he’s $1,500 less than the top option, Nolan Arenado. Carpenter has hit a bit of a rough patch as his .226 average may suggest. That being said he’s still averaging 9.37 fantasy points per game. With the Cardinals offense being hot he has a great chance of scoring if he gets on base. He may not be the most appealing option but if you want to try a Cardinals stack he should probably be in with his price being so low compared to other third basemen.
Outfielder Locks
Marcell Ozuna (STL) $4,500 vs MIL
Marcell Ozuna has been destroying the baseball lately. He now has eight home runs, 18 RBI and 18 runs. These are starting to look like the numbers he put up as a Miami Marlin. If Matt Carpenter and Paul Goldschmidt can keep getting on base early in the games then Ozuna will continue to put up monster numbers. He’s currently averaging 15.63 fantasy points per game. The most important thing is that he has walked at least once in six straight games. That means he’s seeing the ball well and pitchers are being cautious with him. That usually leads to mistakes and big hits like doubles and homers. He has scored fantasy points in his last 12 games, seven of which were over 20 fantasy points. This gives him a safe floor so that you can have him as a lock but it also gives him a high ceiling you desire in GPP contests.
Outfielder Values
Jose Martinez (STL) $2,900 vs MIL
I know that my lineup is stacked full of St. Louis Cardinals players, but quite honestly you could even add Paul Goldschmidt to the list if you could afford him. The Cardinals offense has been solid, and guys like Jose Martinez and Carpenter have great prices. Martines has a hit in his last six games. He’s a very steady option as he boasts a .352 average and has 10 RBI. He has at least 12 fantasy points in his last four games, and just provides a safe floor for a great price.
