Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 3/18/16

What’s up, GF2 fans! I’m back for another installment of my fantasy basketball Add’em or Drop’em players. It’s officially playoff time in most of your fantasy leagues, so it’s time to get down to business. It’s important to keep working the waiver wire with the vast amount of injuries that have affected a plethora of teams over the last month. I’m here to help you guys figure out just who you should add and drop in your leagues.

So, here’s my fantasy basketball Add’em or Drop’em players for this week:

Darren Collison, Kings SG

Collison is owned in 64.9 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. I haven’t been the biggest fan of Collison so far this season, but I’m slowly jumping on his bandwagon. He’s feasted lately for our fantasy lineups due to injuries to guys such as Rajon Rondo and Marco Belinelli. So far this year, Collison has averaged 13.6 points, 4.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game. I’m not expecting him to go out and win you a league championship, but he could help you along your path to getting there.

Verdict: Add’em

Zaza Pachulia, Mavericks Cfantasy basketball add'em or drop'em

Pachulia is owned in 65.3 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. As a Mavs fan, it always pains me to drop some of my favorite players but you’ve got to do what you have to do. Pachulia started this season off great for Dallas but has slowly lost playing time due to the Mavericks playing smaller lineups. This year, he has averaged 9.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 27.7 minutes per contest. Those stats sound really good but what you don’t see is Pachulia only receiving 13 minutes off of the bench on Wednesday night for Dallas.

Verdict: Drop’em

Evan Turner, Celtics SG

Turner is owned in 57.6 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Turner is an intriguing fantasy option in my opinion. He fits in well with this Boston team and has really thrived with Jae Crowder out of the lineup injured. So far this year, Turner has averaged 9.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 27.3 minutes per game for the Celtics. I expect a dip in his minutes when Crowder comes back but I have no problem at all riding the Turner train while it’s hot!

Verdict: Add’em

fantasy basketball add'em or drop'emMason Plumlee, Blazers PF

Plumlee is owned in 50.5 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Coming into the 2015-16 NBA season, I had high hopes that Plumlee was going to be a sneaky good fantasy option for Portland. It just hasn’t played out that way, though, due to Portland’s backcourt being a little crowded. This year, Plumlee has averaged 8.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 25.2 minutes per contest. He’s just not used near as much as I’d like, so it’s time to cut ties with the kid.

Verdict: Drop’em

Nikola Mirotic, Bulls PF

Mirotic is owned in 54.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Mirotic was a valuable asset early on this season for fantasy owners but was bitten by the injury bug that derailed a portion of his year. So far this season, he has averaged 10.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27.3 minutes per contest for Chicago. With injuries to big men Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson, I’m expecting an increase in minutes for Mirotic going forward just in time for your potential playoff run.

Verdict: Add’em
