Fantasy Football: Cut’em or Keep’em Week 13

Welcome to Week 13’s version of “Cut’em or Keep’em”. Each week, I’ll be assessing many players who have been on the chopping block recently. For the most part, I’ll focus on guys who have an ownership rate of 50% or above. An important factor to account for is that just because I classify some one as a “Cut” does not mean you should drop him with out hesitation. That classification simply means they are droppable. If there are no good options on the waiver wire, don’t drop a guy to simply drop a guy. Now, onto my advice!

Cut’em or Keep’em Week 13

James White, (NE) 53.9% owned

Fantasy pundits supported James White throughout the year due to his productivity on 3rd downs. White was an effective PPR back, but never was a good start among standard scoring leagues. Two weeks ago, 2015 breakout RB Dion Lewis returned. Lewis immediately affected both LeGarrette Blount and White’s workload. Prior to week 11, White got an average of 32.6 snaps per game, and over the past two weeks he has averaged 25. I expect Lewis to get more and more targets and carries as the season progresses, so White has little value for the rest of the year.    Verdict: Cut

Jerick McKinnon, (MIN) 50.3% owned

As we have seen time, and time again, back up Vikings RBs simply aren’t talented. Whether it is Mike Asiata, or Jerick McKinnon, neither of them are effective fantasy options. McKinnon is averaging only 3.o YPC, and has only received over 10 carries once since week 7. Due to an RBBC, stagnant offense, and lack of talent, McKinnon doesn’t deserve a spot on your roster. Verdict: Cut

Andy Dalton, (CIN) 60.4% owned

Andy Dalton broke out through the first 13 games last year before he suffered a season ending injury. This year, Dalton’s TD%, Y/A, and QBR. While I have no doubt that he is still a capable NFL QB, there are better options fantasy wise. Also, Dalton’s remaining schedule is one of the worst in the NFL. He faces four top ten pass defenses over the last five weeks. Continuing with this negative theme, Dalton hasn’t thrown for 300 yards since week 8. Verdict: Cut

Marvin Jones, (DET) 87.3% owned

Jones got off to an electric start in Detroit with 51 points over his first three games. Since then, he has not reached 10 points in standard scoring leagues. After his 200+ yard game early in the season, he has averaged 5.5 points per game, 60th among all WRs. Though his numbers have suffered drastically, Jones has many easy match ups over the next few weeks including Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans and Chicago. Verdict:  Keep

DeVante Parker, (MIA) 59.1% owned

Coming out of Louisville is 2014, DeVante Parker was one of my favorite WRs of their star-studded draft class. Since the Dolphins drafted him he has been relativity quiet, with only five career touchdowns. With that said, Parker has had over six targets each of his past three weeks. I am a huge fan of him, and I truly believe he can breakout over the last five weeks.  Verdict:  Keep
