Fantasy Football: Cut’em or Keep’em Week 3

In my mind, week three is just like week three of the preseason. An NFL GM might have absolutely loved a prospect in the seventh round, but after three weeks of struggling in live play, it’s time to say goodbye. The same goes for fantasy football. Every and any avid fantasy participant targets one or two prospects in the later rounds that the love. Usually, the players don’t pan out, and that is not even close to being surprising. The issue with falling in love with late round fliers is that at some point you have to drop them, even if you don’t want to. Even I have struggled with cutting ties with some specific players. It happens to all of us, so if you think you may be at risk just read the following article.

Cut’em or Keep’em Week 3

Devin Funchess, (CAR) 40.1% owned

Some experts predicted that Funchess would get more receptions than Kelvin Benjamin this year. So far, that idea has not exactly panned out (Benjamin: 13 Funchess: 3). Carolina’s offense has not been nearly as electric as it was last year, as the team is averaging 3.2 points less per game through the passing attack. Funchess ranks 5th on the team is targets, and he is  not worth a spot on your fantasy team. Verdict: Cut

Derrick Henry, (TEN) 74.1% owned

Henry has suffered from a lack of touches in Tennessee. Demarco Murray has excelled so far for the Titans and is averaging 17.9 FPPG. While Henry has not had the volume of carries that his fantasy owners want, he is effective whenever he runs. The rookie RB is averaging 4 YPC, and if he was given a 24 carry game, he would have scored 13.8 FPPG, 11th for all RBs. block. Once Henry gets the bulk of carries in Tennessee he will be a solid RB2 Verdict: Keep

 Justin Forsett, (BAL) 63.3% owned

Forsett is getting a maximum of 15 touches a game and is doing absolutely nothing with them. Soon rookie

Kenneth Dixon will return, which will jam the Baltimore backfield up even more. Verdict: Cut

Tyrod Taylor, (BUF) 63.1% owned

Tyrod Taylor is not having the start he wanted to year. The former Virginia Tech QB has not thrown for over 300 yards and has had a zero in the TD category in 2 of 3 games so far. With that said, even last year Taylor was never one to blow up the stat sheet. In 2015 he never threw for over 300 yards, period. Taylor should be getting Sammy Watkins back soon, so keep him on your bench for a few more weeks.  Verdict:  Keep

Chiefs D/ST, (KC) 74.8% owned

The Chiefs D/ST is coming off of a season-low 3 points, and it will only get worse from here. This Sunday they face Le’veon Bell and some WR named Antonio Brown, and after that, they have a Bye, Oakland, and the Saints. The next favorable matchup for Kansas City is week 8 and is you hold onto an extra D/ST for four weeks that’s just stupid. Verdict: Cut
