Fantasy Football: Cut’em or Keep’em Week 7

Welcome back to Cut’em or Keep’em. In this column, I’ll break down the pros and cons of each player that may be on the chopping block for your respective team. Make sure to check back each week for more fantasy advice!

Cut’em or Keep’em Week 7

Jamison Crowder, (WAS) 57.9% owned

After spending last year tearing up defenses as one of the league’s premier young slot receivers, Jamison Crowder was expected to take the next step and excel in his third season. The Duke alum’s performance is quite the contrary. Through five games Crowder has recorded 121 yards. The issue is not related to the Redskins’ offense as a whole, as Kirk Cousins has led the 6th ranked offense in the NFL. Crowder’s struggles are a result of his inefficiency after the catch, which used to be his strong suit. Jay Gruden stated that Josh Doctson will have a larger role in Washington’s offense after their victory against San Francisco which will cause Crowder to fall even further in my fantasy rankings.

Verdict: Cut

Randall Cobb, (GB) 86.6% owned

Nothing hurts receivers more than their star QB getting injured. Cobb’s fantasy future is the perfect example of this case. Even prior to Rodgers breaking his collarbone, Cobb had three consecutive weeks with less than 50 yards and 4 receptions. Brett Hundley taking control of the Green Bay offense with only escalate the veteran receiver’s lack of production even further.

Verdict: Cut

Isaiah Crowell, (CLE) 86.0% owned

Isaiah Crowell is caught in a classic fantasy conundrum. While Crowell is clearly the lead back in Cleveland (79 rushing snaps vs Johnson’s 22), he has not been efficient with these touches. Crowell is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry, and he has especially struggled in zone concepts with (2.73 YPC). On the other hand, he has excelled in man and power runs with 4.56 YPC which ranks 10th in the NFL. Crowell could see an increase in fantasy production if head coach Hue Jackson emphasizes man and power runs more in their offense. Though there are countless moving factors in Crowell’s value, he is still a starting running back with potential  which means he should be owned in all leagues

VerdictKeep

Jamies Winston, (TB) 86.6% owned

Winston’s positional ranking of 20th does not represent his true fantasy value in the least.Winston has only played four full games due to the cancellation of week one during Hurricane Irma and an injury last week against Arizona. During his time on the field, the Famous Jamies has been used in high volume. When he plays all four quarters, Winston averages over 38 pass attempts a game, which is great value in fantasy. Additionally, he has thrown for over 300 yards in each of his past three healthy games. When Winston returns from his injury either this week or next, make sure he is still on your roster.

Verdict: Keep
