Fantasy Football: Keep ‘Em or Cut ‘Em – Week Eleven

We are officially nearing the home stretch. Playoffs start in four or five weeks, depending on your league and the trade deadline looms, or may have already passed! Did you make the most of it? I hope so. But have no fear. The waiver wire is available all season long. Keep some. Cut some. You decide. But read on if you need a little nudge in the right direction.

James Conner – Pittsburgh Steelers RB (13 carries for 36 yards; 2 receptions for 12 yards)

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 9-0 and looking like a Super Bowl contender at this point. But what is happening to James Conner? During weeks 5-8, Conner was averaging 17.5 carries per game, 68.5 yards per carry and 0.75 TDs. Over the last two weeks, Conner has 21 carries for 58 yards and 0 TDs. The more concerning fact is that these two dud performances came against a leaky Dallas Cowboys defense and the Cincinnati Bengals. The game script wasn’t THAT bad and should have allowed for more Conner usage. But watching over the tape, it looked as if Tomlin clearly avoided using Conner and even gave Benny Snell a goal-line carry against Dallas. Chase Claypool also saw a goal-line carry against Cincinnati. I am going to give Conner more chances because this Steelers team is legit, but it is definitely something you will want to keep an eye on. Verdict: Keep ‘Em

Mark Ingram II – Baltimore Ravens RB (5 carries for 5 yards; 2 receptions for 24 yards)

Let’s face it. This Baltimore Ravens team is not the same as 2019. That’s 2020 for you, I suppose. Mark Ingram is certainly showing his age at this point. This team is a full-blown RBBC and that’s without including Lamar Jackson. Ingram only saw 5 carries on Sunday night and that was the fewest of all RBs, tied with J.K. Dobbins. Lamar had 11 carries and Gus Edwards had 7 carries. After a surprising 2019 season in which Mark Ingram finished with 15 total TDs, regression was almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, week ten has passed and Ingram only has 2 TDs to his name. You can move on and grab a waiver wire wonder to fill his spot. Verdict: Cut ‘Em

DeeJay Dallas – Seattle Seahawks RB (2 carries for 8 yards; 2 receptions for 23 yards)

DeeJay Dallas entered onto the scene in week eight, filling in for an injured Chris Carson. He scored 2 TDs in his place (1 rushing and 1 receiving) and was a hot waiver wire item for the week. However, even with Carson still sidelined in week ten, Dallas only saw two carries for a measly eight yards and it was Alex Collins (Remember him?) who ended up with 11 carries and a rushing TD. With Chris Carson scheduled to return this week for Thursday Night Football, you can safely drop DeeJay from your roster and look for a better suitor to fill your flex spot as you make a push for the playoffs. Verdict: Cut ‘Em

Jarvis Landry – Cleveland Browns WR (3 receptions for 29 yards)

What happened to Jarvis Landry? The absence of Odell Beckham for the year certainly doesn’t help this offense or Landry for that matter. Jarvis only has 1 TD so far in ten weeks. And it’s not a receiving TD. It happened in week four, against the Dallas Cowboys. Landry threw a 37 yard TD pass to Odell Beckham. Maybe that TD was cursed? Landry hasn’t scored since and three weeks later, Beckham went down with a season-ending knee injury. Either way, fantasy owners have been disappointed at the production that Landry has put out. Landry has yet to top 90 receiving yards in any game this season. This is a run-first team and with the return of Nick Chubb, I don’t see Landry improving his stats anytime soon. Verdict: Cut ‘Em

Marquise Brown – Baltimore Ravens WR (2 receptions for 14 yards)

I was so excited about Hollywood Brown this season. Coming off a 7 TD season last year, I fully expected Brown to break out this year and be a top 15 WR. But yikes, I was wrong on that one. Thus far, Brown has only topped 100 yards once, back in week one! He has two TDs on the season and has already voiced frustration about not being targeted enough during games. The chemistry between Lamar Jackson and Brown seems off and I am not willing to wait any longer. I need a WR on my team who I can trust week in and week out. Right now, that’s not Brown. Verdict: Cut ‘Em

Mike Williams – Los Angeles Chargers WR (2 receptions for 28 yards)

Justin Herbert was held in check all day against the Miami Dolphins. Herbert didn’t even eclipse 200 yards on Sunday which was a first for him this season. As a result, the entire WR corps struggled to put up decent fantasy numbers all afternoon. Mike Williams has been a favorite target of Herbert’s all year. Mike Williams will continue to play second fiddle to Keenan Allen, but Williams is that deep threat that Herbert continues to target. Williams can continue to make a great WR3 for you with boom or bust potential each and every week. Hopefully, he continues to boom with some matchups against the Jets, Falcons and Raiders on tap in the coming weeks. Verdict: Keep ‘Em
