The big fantasy story of the week is the horrific injury suffered by Dallas QB Dak Prescott. The injury was a microcosm of the season as a whole, as it was yet another valuable top 10 fantasy player at his position to go down. Marching towards the halfway point of the season, owners are struggling to put together lineups with the Covid testing in addition to the hurt players. Rookies are being thrown in sometimes much early than expected, and some have surprised. Let’s take a look at which rookies have the most value going into Week 6.
- CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys LW: 3
Lamb caught eight of 11 targets for a career-high 124 yards in Sunday’s 37-34 win over the Giants. The aforementioned injury to Prescott and the promotion of QB Andy Dalton casts doubt as to the impact on the wide receivers. Lamb should be immune to regression, as he has turned into a stud in the offense. Monitor the situation closely, and try to grab him below market value if possible.
2. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers LW: 4
3. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Chiefs LW: 2
4. Jonathan Taylor, RB, Colts LW: 5
5. Joe Burrow, QB, Bengals LW: 1
6. Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington LW: 8
Running back Antonio Gibson didn’t do well against the Rams on Sunday, carrying the ball 11 times for 27 yards. He did add five catches for 24 yards to help his fantasy owners in PPR leagues, but overall it was a disappointing game. The change to Kyle Allen didn’t seem to provide the help to Gibson some hoped it would. He will most likely be a hit or miss Rb for the rest of the year.
7. Chase Claypool, WR, Steelers LW: UNR
Holy ****. Chase Claypool had a massive game in a 38-29 win over the Eagles in Week 5. Claypool caught seven of his 11 targets for 110 yards and three touchdowns and added three rushes for six yards and a third touchdown in the big win. It was an absolute evisceration of a team’s defense. The injury to fellow wideout Diontae Johnson opened the door for Chase to have his monster game, and it will be next to impossible for the coaches to put him back on the bench. Spend that juicy waiver slot on this guy.

8. Gabriel Davis, WR, Bills LW: UNR
9. James Robinson, RB, Jaguars LW: 6
Tee Higgins recorded four catches for 62 yards during the loss to the Ravens on Sunday. The rookie received eight looks from quarterback Joe Burrow, marking his third straight outing with at least seven targets. This is excellent news for Higgins, as it seems he is gaining Burrow’s trust. He has already leapfrogged AJ Green in the depth chart, and he should continue to ascend in a good fantasy offense. try to store him on the bench if you can.
