Running Backs

START

Chris Johnson-Cardinals

At the start of the season if I told Ty Chris Johnson would catch on with a team you would probably believe me. If I told you he was going to make an impact, then you would more than likely question my knowledge.

On the season he has 567 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging about 5.1 yards per carry. He has solidified himself as the starter here in Arizona and if he continues to run the ball as he has, nothing is going to change.

This week he gets a matchup against the Cleveland Browns. This is another game where he should make an impact as the Browns are the 4th worst defense against RBs this year.

Antonio Andrews-Titans

When the season started nobody knew his name. Nobody was drafting him, looking to own him. He has carved out a decent role within the Titans.

On the season he has just under 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nothing to write home about. He does have a role in this backfield though. Henry’s the most carries, but, more important he gets the redzone work.

This week he gets a matchup against a Texans defense that has been owned by opposing running backs. They rank in the bottom 10 amongst defenses against RBs. Andrews should score this week.

Shane Vereen-Giants

When he was first signed by the Giants everyone gushed about the possibilities of this offensive system and Vereen’s talents coming together.

He has proven to still be ineffective in the rushing game. But, still has the chops to get it done in the passing game.

This week he gets a matchup against the New Orleans Saints. They have the 10th worst rush defense in the league. If we dig deeper into this defense, we will see they really had trouble against pass catching RBs.

SIT

Alfred Blue-Texans

I know when a RB gets hurt and he is in a system that produces solid RB numbers we all wanna run out and start his backup. Earlier this season we learned that he can’t just step in and fill Fosters shoes.

The matchup doesn’t help him this week as the Titans rank inside the top 6 against RBs. The Texans passing game has been horrendous so you can’t expect the running game will get much help from it. It’s best to just sit him this week and see how this week goes.

Latavius Murray-Raiders

He has potential to be the most explosive RB in this league. He has top end speed and is a physical runner.

On the season he has 421 yards and 3 touchdowns with a YPC of 4.4. This week he gets a matchup against the most fierce defense in the league. They will be in this backfield quick and often this Sunday.

Wide Receivers

START

Golden Tate-Lions

Any expected him to be much better than he has been to start the season. The bottom line is when megatron is in the lineup he averages 60 yards per game. That’s a fact.

On the season he has 34 receptions,318 yards and 1 touchdown. Not terrible, but, not living up to the draft pick spent to have his services.

This week he gets a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s as good as a matchup can get. The Chiefs have allowed the most fantasy points to WRs on the year.

Stefon Diggs-Vikings

When the season started Charles Johnson was the breakout star for the Vikings. That never happened. Johnson has been a colossal disappointment for the Vikings and the many people who believed in him. It left the door open for Diggs and he took the opportunity and ran with it.

He has posted 3 straight 20 point performances and it’s time to recognize him as the real deal. He is the most potent and trusted target Teddy Bridgewater has.

This week he gets a matchup against the Chicago Bears. They have had one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season. They are the 6th worst defense when it comes to covering WRs.

SIT

Steve Smith-Ravens

At points this year he has certainly
Looked his age. He isn’t what he used to be, in any given week, he can come out and let your squad down.

On the season he has posted 41 receptions for 588 yards and 3 touchdowns. That has come off 3 big weeks tho. He is a boom or bust option now and will continue to be just that.

This week he gets a really tough matchup against San Diego Chargers. They have been stout in the secondary, they rank 4th against WRs. This is another week where Steve Smith SR looks his age.

Amari Cooper-Raiders

He has been as explosive as everyone has expected he would be. He truly is becoming the pulse of this offense. He can run any pattern you as him to run and knows how to go deep and get the ball.

On the season he has posted 33 receptions for 519 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hendidnhave a couple of games where he seemed to disappear. He is a rookie and that is to be expected.

This week he gets to play the New York Jets and their 9th ranked defense against WRs. More importantly he wi get a matchup against Darrelle Revis, Revis has a way of making very good WRs disappear.

Tight End

START

Benjamin Watson-Saints

When the season started it was expected that Josh Hill was going to be the best TE to own on this team. Ben Watson has ended those beliefs. The Bottom line is when they use Ben Watson they can do some of the things they did when they had Jimmy Graham.

On the season he has 29 receptions for 325 yards and 2 touchdowns. This week he has a great matchup against the Giants. They Rank in the Bottom 5 when it comes to defending against the TE this year.

SIT

Eric Ebron-Lions

He has looked like a breakout candidate at the positions this year. The TE position as a whole is in need of a few guys to step up. Maybe you don’t have a lot at the TE position and you feel you need to start him.

On the year he has 20 receptions 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. This week he has a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. They have shut down every TE they have played and currently rank at the top of the league against the position.

Quarterbacks

START

Teddy BridgewaterVikings

He got off to a slow start and couldn’t seem to string consecutive good weeks together all season. He is coming off his best game of his career and has a great matchup against the Chicago Bears. The Bears are in the bottom 4 against QBs this year so this is his best chance to string big games together.

SIT

Jay Cutler-Bears

You may be thinking he has looked decent since he has gotten Alshon Jeffery back, and yes he has. If we know anything about Jay Cutler, it’s that if you can get to him, he is ineffective. The Vikings rank in the top 10 against QBs. This is a good week to forget Jay Cutler is on your team this week.
