Fantasy Football Streamers Week 10: QB, TE, Team Defense

The six-team “bye-pocalypses” are over for this season, with only four teams (Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills) idle in Week 10 and going forward. So streaming is slightly less important, but with four startable signal callers off this week that is a position where it may be necessary. With that, here are your Week 10 streamers at quarterback, tight end and team defense.

Quarterback: Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Yahoo! Ownership: 8%

“Good” Jay Cutler made an appearance when he returned to action in Week 8, as he completed 20 of 31 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Coming off a bye in Week 10, he now gets a favorable matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Over their last two games, Tampa Bay has allowed eight passing touchdowns without an interception. The Buccaneers also have just four interceptions so far this season, with two of those coming in Week 5 when Derek Anderson filled in for Cam Newton under center for the Carolina Panthers.

Cutler could easily revert back to his erratic form on Sunday, but it’s at best uncertain if Tampa Bay’s defense can take full advantage of any errant throws or questionable decisions. So that makes Cutler a solid streamer for Week 10 in a favorable matchup, and an overlooked one at that.

Others To Consider: Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons; Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers; Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns (Thursday night)

Tight End: Dennis Pitta, Baltimore Ravens, vs. Cleveland Browns (Thursday night)
Yahoo! Ownership: 55%

After totaling 17 receptions (on 28 targets) over the previous three games, Pitta had a dismal game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9 (two catches for 14 yards). But the cure-all that is the Cleveland Browns is on the slate for Week 10, and Pitta is in line for a nice rebound.

The Browns enter this week allowing the most fantasy points to tight ends (12.4 per game, ESPN standard scoring). That includes the most catches (61) and yards (725) to the position, and the second-most touchdowns (eight) to tight ends.

Pitta made a contribution to Cleveland’s ineptitude against tight ends this year, with a season-high nine receptions (12 targets) for 102 yards back in Week 2. A repeat performance is tough to expect, but any drop in catches or yards could be offset by a touchdown catch on Thursday night. Pitta is a TE1 this week for sure, and he’s available enough to be my top streaming tight end.

Others To Consider: Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles, vs. Atlanta Falcons; Lance Kendricks, Los Angeles Rams, at New York Jets; Zach Miller, Chicago Bears, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers;

Team Defense: Baltimore Ravens, vs. Cleveland Browns
Yahoo! Ownership: 42%

After allowing at least 24 points in three out of four games from Week 4-Week 7, the Ravens’ defense came out of their Week 8 bye with a strong defensive effort last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers (14 points allowed, two sacks, one interception and a touchdown off a blocked punt). They’ve now scored a defensive or special teams touchdown in each of their last two games, with seven sacks over that span.

Baltimore allowed 20 points to the Cleveland Browns back in Week 2, but they registered three sacks and had two interceptions in the game to still finish with a strong fantasy effort. Rookie Cody Kessler will start under center again for the Browns on Thursday night, and while he’s only thrown one interception so far this season the Ravens could force him into a lot of mistakes.

Fantasy owners seem to mostly be ignoring Baltimore’s defense, but they are trending up heading into a favorable matchup. If that doesn’t make this unit a top-notch streaming option for Week 10, I might be doing this all wrong.

Others To Consider: Washington Redskins, vs Minnesota Vikings; New York Jets, vs. Los Angeles Rams; Atlanta Falcons, at Philadelphia Eagles; Houston Texans, at Jacksonville Jaguars
