Fantasy Football: Top Waiver Wire Add for Week 12

Quarterbacks

Case Keenum (MIN) 40%

I think it is safe to say that Keenum is pretty much locked in at starting quarterback for the rest of the season. He is on a six game win streak, he is completing almost 66% of his passes, his touchdowns are okay and his interceptions are pretty low. He is not lighting the box score, but he is doing enough to move the offense, score some points, and most importantly win games. The only thing I don’t really like regarding Keenum is his next three games are all on the road. The good news is only one game (@GB) could be greatly affected by weather. His playoff schedule is not the best, but it is certainly manageable considering how will the Vikings are playing as a team.

Joe Flacco (BAL) 36%

NFL DFS FanDuel Value PlaysTake this one with a grain of salt. I know Flacco has not been playing well, but its crunch time here. If you are making a playoff run and your starting quarterback has been shaky or you have a superflex option, you might want to consider Flacco here. The Ravens have HOU, DET, @PIT, @CLE, and IND right on through the playoffs. I know the PIT game is not very appealing, but to have CLE and IND the last two weeks of the playoffs might just be sweet enough match ups to make Flacco worth rostering in case you need some help come playoff time. This recommendation comes solely as a stash and use in case of emergency label. I am in now way suggesting that you should be rolling him out there as the best option. If you are a lock for the playoffs you should be looking a head at this point and preparing for bad match ups and even possible bad weather games.

Running Backs

Samaje Perine (WAS) 51%

Samaje Perine Redskins Running BackPerine’s upcoming schedule is not all that great, but with Robert Kelley on IR and Chris Thompson breaking his leg last Sunday, that pretty much leaves a lot of work for Perine. So despite the so so schedule the workload alone makes Perine a valuable add. He is owned in 51% of leagues currently so chances are he might not be there, but if he is I would grab right away. He should be able to produce double digit points most weeks and if you can land a guy in week 12 that can get you double digit points each week that is a huge boost going into fantasy playoffs.

Alex Collins (BAL) 49%

Collins finally found his way to the end zone. Thanks to a defensive pick starting setting up first and goal from the three yard line, but I am just bitter because I needed the defense to run that one in for the touchdown. Regardless of the easy touchdown it is clear that Collins is the lead back for now. He got 20 of the teams 24 attempts and drew seven targets which more than doubled his season total in that category. He won’t over throw your RB1 but with games against CLE and IND in the fantasy playoffs he could sneak into you lineup as a spot flex start and with 49% availability I think he is worth rostering for a stretch run.

Austin Ekeler (LAC) 33%

Ekler was here last week and he is back again this week on the list. I figure his usage would go down some this week, but he still managed 40 yards on the ground with a touchdown and a couple of receptions for 18 yards. Not great numbers obviously, but the fact that they continue to use him is a positive sign that he will have a role the rest of the way out. Still only owned in 33 percent of leagues, chances are pretty good you can snag if you are desperate to replace someone like Zeke and you missed out on Alfred Morris. I have also mentioned before that the Chargers have one of the more favorable schedules from here on out making Ekler even more valuable for owners heading into the playoffs.

Devontae Booker (DEN) 21%

Booker was tied for the team lead in receptions and he also had a season high in carries and yards this past week, which also led the team. As Denver continues to struggle we might see more opportunities for Booker in the offense. With games against the Dolphins, Jets, and Colts during the fantasy playoffs he makes for a fine start those weeks. I would like to add though that he is better suited for PPR leagues, but if something happens to Anderson in the next couple of weeks he get a huge bump in value. With only 21% ownership he should be available and if you are in one of the 16 team leagues I would make sure because running backs are almost impossible to find down the stretch in deeper leagues.

Wide Receivers

Josh Doctson (WAS) 44%

A lot of people have been waiting a long time for Doctson to come around. Not sure I would declare him here, but he clearly seems to be on the way. Back to back weeks of seven targets, but this week some of those targets were shots downfield resulting in the same four receptions two weeks ago, but an additional 51 yards for a total of 81 this past week. If the Redskins continue to use Doctson this way he could be in line for some big point totals over the next few weeks, including the fantasy playoffs. The next four games are all very favorable match ups for the Redskins and even in week 16, typical championship week, the Skins play the Broncos who seem to be a shall of their former self. Available in more than 50 percent of the leagues check to see if he is there and go get him.

Danny Amendola (NE) 43%

Amendola got 100 yards week one and has not even sniffed it since. In fact he may not come close the rest of the season. But he does get plenty of targets and turns them into plenty of receptions. If you league offers points for return yards its a little bonus that from time to time Amendola returns punts. Problem is with the low yardage he needs to get those eight receptions in order to maintain value, and some weeks he struggles with that. His schedule is not great but the best thing going for him is the Patriots seem to be heating up as the weather is getting colder.

Zay Jones (BUF) 32%

With Kelvin Benjamin getting knocked out early last week and Jordan Matthews struggling to stay healthy this could be the time for Zay to make his mark. Over his last two games his slash is 10/121/1, which accounts for a little more than half of his season total. Available in over two thirds of the leagues, adding Zay should be possible. The Bills have one of my favorite remaining schedules with all remaining games against teams in the lower half of the league in giving up points to wide receivers. So the opportunity is there for Zay especially of Benjamin and or Matthews continue to struggle to stay on the field.

Mike Williams (LAC) 21%

With match ups in week 15 against the Chiefs and week 16 against the Jets and the Chargers possibly fighting for a playoff spot, it could be mean plenty of scoring opportunities. Even if the Chargers fall out of contention it could also be a good time to get Williams some extra work in getting comfortable in the offense. Either way Williams could be seeing a pretty big bump from here on out. He posted season highs in receptions, targets, and yards last week and should be able to continue to grow that output over time. Only owned in 21 percent of leagues he makes for a pretty good flier that could pay off when the money is on the line.

Tight Ends

Adam Shaheen (CHI) 8%

Adam Shaheen Bears Tight EndShaheen could turn into a pretty solid red zone threat. With Miller out and Sims finding it hard to stay on the field, Shaheen is taking full advantage of his time. Catching four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown marking his best game of the year for him. Rookie tight ends usually take time to develop so this is not really a surprise that he has been very limited to this point, but he now has the opportunity to show what he can do, and from his college days that could mean a lot of touchdowns. I don’t ever see him as a high volume guy, but he could be a high touchdown guy. He does not have a great schedule but he is for sure the biggest target his quarterback has heading down the stretch.

Julius Thomas (MIA) 47%

I hate putting him here, but if you are desperate at tight end you may want to consider Thomas. Hopefully you are not desperate. If you are desperate though, and you are forced to play the match ups Thomas does have one of the nicest up coming schedules. He faces off against the Patriots, Broncos, and the Patriots again in the next three weeks. All teams that have struggled to stop tight ends this year and any game against New England can end up high scoring which means plenty of opportunity. He is owned in close to 50 percent of leagues so he might not be out there for you, but if he is, he is at least worth a consideration.

The Professor

I have been playing fantasy football since 1991. My first draft I had the first pick and the first player I ever drafted was Randall Cunningham. I remember that because he broke his leg in the first half of the season. Since then I have been hooked on fantasy football and I have not and will not ever draft a QB in the first round again.
