Running backs

START

Lamar Miller-Dolphins

He got off to a slow start this season, but, if you were patient and kept him, it’s paying off now. The coaching change has done nothing but help Miller. He has been a force over the last 5 weeks. On the season he has 522 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, for an avg. YPC of 4.9. These numbers don’t even include his contributions in the passing game.

This week he gets a matchup against one of the worst rush defenses in football. The Dallas Cowboys, they currently have the 2nd worst rush defense in the league. I’m expecting more big numbers out of Miller in this one.

Darren McFadden-Cowboys

When the season started the Cowbiys didn’t have a clear cut starting RB. However, the rigors of an NFL season have removed all his competition. Over the past couple of weeks, he has been a 30 touch a game bell cow. We don’t have many of them left in the NFL, that’s for sure.

This week he gets a matchup against the 5th worst rush defense in the league, the Miami Dolphins. Since the change in coaching, the Dolphins defense has looked a little better, but, it’s not enough. Keep an eye on his status, since he tweaked his groin in practice and has been limited in practice this week.

Frank Gore-Colts

It’s hasn’t been a great season for Gore, but, it could be worse. At this point, he is a middle of the road option at the position. The return of Bradshaw certainly isn’t helping his cause.

This week the matchup is solid, the Colts play the Falcons in week 11. The Falcons defense has been better than suspected, but, they continue to have trouble stopping the run. Ranking in the bottom 4 in the league.

Furthermore, I would expect the absence of Andrew Luck, to put the ball in Gore’s hand more often than not.

SIT

Alfred Blue-Texans

Let’s face it, the Texans are a mess in just about every facet of the game. Once Arian Foster went down, not only did this team lose their best offensive player, but, they basically lost all consistency in the running game.

Now you want to talk about consistent, let’s talk about the Jets rush defense. Few teams in the league have the power they have on the front end of the defense. The Jets have the 7th best rush defense in the league. I’m expecting their rush defense to climb the ranks as the season moves on.

DeMarco Murray-Eagles

It’s safe to say, he got off to one of the worst starts we have ever seen a running back have to start the year. While he has looked better, I’m not rushing out to start him. Truthfully, Ryan Mathews is the guy I want to own in this backfield.

The matchup is deceptively hard this week. The Buccaneers aren’t push overs when it comes to their rush defense. They currently have a top 10 rush defense.

James Starks-Packers

I know we all love him now and he got ahead of fat Eddie on the depth chart. When we dig deeper into Starks, we learn he hasn’t faced a top 15 defense yet.

That changes this week, the Viking defense is no joke. They have been tough on the run. They are currently ranked 8th in the league when it comes to defending the run.

Jeremy Hill-Bengals

He is the biggest disappointment in fantasy football this year. Many people spent late first or early 2nd round picks for him. In return he can’t even give us 10 points per week.

I wouldn’t hold my breath in hopes that it’s going to change this week. The Arizona Cardinals will be waiting for him this Sunday. Their defense is currently ranked 11th against the run. However, they should be well in the top 10 and will be, by the time the season comes to an end.

Wide Receivers

START

Michael Crabtree-Raiders

He has been on fire this season. Playing at a level well above anything anyone predicted. On the season he has, 51 receptions, 646 yards and 5 touchdowns.

This week he gets a nice matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Lions pass defense has been amongst the worst in the NFL. Ranking in the bottom 7 amongst all defenses. Add to that, the Lion’s best cover corner, Darius Slay, is said to be prepared to shadow Amari Cooper and all the fixings are present for Crabtree to have a big day.

Doug Baldwin-Seahawks

I know it’s hard to trust anyone in the Seattle passing offense, so this suggestion is mostly a start for those teams that are light at WR and in deeper leagues. This passing game as a whole in Seattle has had trouble getting off the ground. Some of it is due to scheme, but, the biggest contributor to the poor play in the Seahawks passing game has been the offensive line. Sometimes it looks like they are trying to get Wilson killed.

This week he gets a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. It’s a good matchup for Baldwin, as the 49ers allow the 8th most points to WRs this year.

SIT

Kamar Aiken– Ravens

I know with Steve Smith going down we are all in love with Aiken now. I have to be honest, I like his talent, I’m expecting him to do some nice things with this opportunity that he has.

It won’t be this week though, the Rams have a top 4 pass defense and the Ravens Pass offense leaves something to be desired. Don’t get cute this week, just sit Aiken.

Pierre GarçonRedskins

For much of the year he has been their number 1 target in the passing game. Some weeks you have been able to get away with having him in your starting lineup. Since Cousins is coming off his big game, maybe you’re feeling like you have to start Garçon. I’m here to tell you not to do it.

Allow me to stop you, this isn’t the week to start anyone in the Redskins passing game. The Panthers have a very formidable pass defense. Furthermore, Josh Norman will be on Garçon and that is not a good thing for old Pierre.

Tight end

START

Eric Ebron-Lions

He has been pretty hot and cold this year. While he has shown progress from year 1 to year 2, he still has improvements to make. He is trending in the right direction and is beginning to become a more consistent option in this passing game.

I’m expecting that he is going to have one of his good weeks here. He gets a matchup against the Oakland Raiders. They have the worst defense in the league when it comes to containing the TE.

Coby Fleener-Colts

He is another guy that has been hot and cold this year. Many may think that Hassback is a downgrade to the position and as a whole he is. However, I’m expecting he will come out and try to lean on his TE.

This week he gets a good matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. They have had issues when it comes to containing the TE. Allowing the 6th most fantasy points to the position on the year.

SIT

Antonio Gates-Chargers

He has had some decent performances since returning from his suspension. However, coming into this week he is far from healthy. While he is expected to play, he is battling hip and knee injuries.

It doesn’t help that he plays the Chiefs this week. They are the number 1 defense in the NFL when it comes to covering the TE. The smart move would be to put him on your bench and hope he is healthier next week.

Quarterbacks

START

Mark Sanchez-Eagles

I know the man isn’t exactly the ideal QB that you want to put your trust in. Last week, when Bradford went down, he came in and attempted to lead the Eagles to victory. Unfortunately, a late interception in their opponents red zone ended their hopes of coming back.

This week, he gets a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their defense has been pretty solid against the run, so I’m expecting this to be a game where the Eagles have to pass a lot. Sanchez should be able to move the ball though the air on this defense. They give up the 8th most fantasy points in the league to QBs.

SIT

Joe Flacco-Ravens

The Ravens offense has been okay this year. Losing Steve Smith was a big blow. Neither Aiken nor Givens, are going to be able to replace what Steve Smith brings to the passing game. On the season Flacco has posted 2,492 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

This week he gets a matchup against the ST. Louis Rams. They have been punishing QBs all season long. They currently have the 2nd ranked defense when it comes to defending the QB.

Jay Cutler-Bears

It’s been an interesting year for the Bears offense. Early on they couldn’t seem to get anything going, but, we have to understand that they were battling many injuries. Now that Jay Cutler got his number 1 target in the passing game back, they look much stronger and have even strung some wins together.

This week Cutler is best left on your bench. You don’t want to test this Broncos defense, especially with a QB like Cutler. They are going to be all over him, he will get frazzled and he will throw interception. The Broncos have allowed the least points in the NFL to QBs. Sit him down this week.
