Fantasy Football Week 17 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before I get into my final fantasy football streamers for the 2018 season, let’s review the results from Week 16. (Yahoo! scoring, four points per passing touchdown)

Quarterback: Josh Allen-13.68 points
Tight End: Ian Thomas-14.8 points
Team Defense: Indianapolis Colts-2 points

Now, here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 17.

Quarterback: Sam Darnold, New York Jets at New England Patriots

Darnold completed 24 of 35 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16, which gives him multiple touchdown passes with no interceptions  in back-to-back games. He’s in line to finish his rookie season strongly in Week 17.

The New England Patriots are in the bottom half of the league against quarterbacks this year (ESPN scoring). An opposing quarterback has topped 35 attempts 10 times in 15 games, with multiple passing touchdowns six times and over 260 passing yards seven times (both five times). The only quarterbacks with more than 35 attempts that did not reach at least one of the aforementioned marks? Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen.

The game script may get away from the Jets on Sunday, and Darnold has attempted at least 35 passes in back-to-back games (five times in 12 games this year). In part as a volume-based play, but also due to how well he’s playing, Darnold stands atop the heap of quarterback streamers for Week 17.

Yahoo! Ownership: 6%

Others To Consider: Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins; Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns; Derek Carr at Kansas City Chiefs; Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins; Josh Johnson, Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Teddy Bridgewater, New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers (check status of Drew Brees)

Tight End: Chris Herndon, New York Jets at New England Patriots

Herndon had six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown (on seven targets) in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers. He has now topped 50 yards in three of his last five games, and he has delivered double-digit PPR points in five games this season.

In Week 12 Herndon had season-highs in targets (eight) and catches (seven) against the Patriots, and he gets them again in Week 17. New England in the middle of the pack against tight ends for the season, but Bills’ tight end Jason Croom (who?) had four catches for 55 yards against them in Week 16. It’s safe to Herndon is a better player.

There’s only one more week to try to navigate this year’s barren tight end landscape. Herndon is a pretty easy No. 1 streamer for Week 17.

Others To Consider: Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints; C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers

Team Defense: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans (Sunday night)

The Colts did not deliver in this space last week, allowing 27 points to the New York Giants with no sacks and one interception. But I’m going back to the well in Week 17, with the Tennessee Titans on the slate.

Marcus Mariota left last week’s game with stinger, after dealing with an elbow issue earlier in the season. He’ll surely try to play Sunday night with the playoffs on the line, but Blaine Gabbert may wind up starting and there’s some chance he’ll play if Mariota proves ineffective.

In Week 11 against Indianapolis Mariota left the game with another stinger, Gabbert played and the Colts’ defense held the Titans to 10 points along with five sacks and two interceptions.

The Colts’ defense has been up-and-down all season, but there’s reason to be optimistic about a strong finish in a good matchup.
