Fantasy Football Week 7 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before the unveiling of Week 7’s quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers, let’s review my picks for Week 6 (Yahoo! PPR scoring).

Quarterback: Baker Mayfield-14.32 points
Tight End: Austin Hooper-22.1 points
Team Defense: Green Bay Packers-7 points

Now, here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 7.

Quarterback: Eli Manning, New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons (Monday night)

Manning’s decline in performance is clear and obvious based on the eye test. But the eye test is not the only factor for a quarterback as a producer for fantasy owners (see Tim Tebow, 2011), and the two-time Super Bowl MVP has thrown for 279 or more yards in four of his last five games while completing close to 69 percent of his passes for the season.

The Atlanta Falcons are injury-thinned defensively, including both starting safeties. It has shown pretty dramatically, with 16 touchdown passes allowed over their last five games (at least three in each game) along with at least 335 passing yards allowed four times in that span.

Giants tight end Evan Engram (knee) is in line to be back next Monday night, which adds a weapon for Manning and one that can exploit the soft middle of Atlanta’s defense.

Simply put, Week 7 is a get-right game for Manning in a very favorable matchup. In a tough bye week, with Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Russell Wilson idle, a last big fantasy hurrah for Manning makes him worth betting on as a high-upside streamer.

Tight End: C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday night)

Tyler Eifert (ankle) is out for the season, and Tyler Kroft (foot) looks to be out for awhile, so Uzomah is the last man standing at tight end for the Bengals. He seemed to fully step in to that primary role in Week 6, with six receptions (on seven targets) for 54 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Uzomah is in good position to keep it rolling in Week 7. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed the third-most fantasy points to tight ends (16.8 per game; ESPN PPR scoring), including the most yards (550), tied for the third-most receptions (36) and 15.3 yards per catch to the position. They have been stingy against tight ends in the touchdown department, with just one allowed thus far, but that’s all that’s keeping the Chiefs from being even worse against the position.

Tight end has again been pretty thin this year, so Uzomah is a solid general waiver wire add too. But strictly as a streamer for Week 7, based mostly on his wide availability, he’s atop the heap.

Team Defense: Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts

Over their last four games, probably not coincidentally since head coach Sean McDermott took over play-calling duties, the Bills’ defense has totaled 15 sacks (seven in Week 6) and 11 takeaways while allowing 14 points or less three times. Fantasy owners who plumbed the depths and used them as a streamer last week against the Houston Texans were rewarded nicely.

The Indianapolis Colts have had little trouble putting up points this season, averaging 25.3 per game (13th in the league) thus far with 34 in two of their last three games. Somehow Andrew Luck has only been sacked once over the last two games, but he has throw five interceptions in those games and the Colts have multiple giveaways in five of six games this season. An opposing defense has also scored against them in three games thus far.

Buffalo’s offensive woes have obscured the effort of their defense lately. They may allow some points on Sunday, but the prospect of multiple sacks and turnovers along with a defensive score puts the Bills’ defense in as the top streamer for Week 7.
