NFL Playoffs: Foles magic, is Foles Getting Closer to Taking Over for Wentz?

While keeping the Eagles alive in winning 2 thriller games against the LA Rams and the Houston Texans, then moving on to put the beat down on division rival Washington Redskins the one and only Nick Foles has helped a struggling Eagles team back into the postseason. Now after his game Winning Drive against the top defense in the league in the Chicago Bears going 60 Yards and throwing a touchdown to put the game away has everyone wondering if Foles helps the Eagles to beat the Saints in the divisional round of the Playoffs is it time to move on from Wentz? Not to knock Wentz because we all saw that magical 2017 season and we can’t deny that Carson Wentz is a tremendous athlete.

At what point do we recognize Foles is a whole different athlete in himself, Foles is clutch and this kid can play. You can’t make the argument that Foles has had a hard time with injuries. So has Wentz. We all know what Wentz can do. His numbers in the first 3 seasons with the Eagles are Elite. Through 40 games Wentz has a completion percentage of 63.7 for 10,152 yards and 70 TD’s to just 23 ints for a passer rating of 92.5 with a 23-17 record. Said to be better than Peyton Manning.

Let’s talk Nick Foles and what he has accomplished as an Eagle. 2013/ 27 TD’s to just 2 ints. Threw 7 touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders with a perfect passer rating of a 158.3 his jersey is in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. 2013 Pro Bowl MVP. Foles Finished the year with an NFL best 119.2 passer rating and 3rd in NFL History.

In 2017 he played back up to Carson Wentz and took the reins from Wentz at the end of the game against a great Rams team after Wentz’ season-ending injury to his knee. Foles finished the game with a win. He then went on to help the Eagles win enough games to keep the #1 seed and a first-round bye. In the postseason Foles played tremendously. The Eagles beat the Falcons 15-10. Went on to beat a great Vikings defense in a blowout win while throwing 3 Touchdowns on his way to Superbowl Lll. Not only did he help defeat the Patriots and give the City of Philadelphia its first Superbowl Victory.

Foles earned The honor of being named the Superbowl Lll MVP throwing 3 Touchdowns and a Touchdown Reception. The Philadelphia Eagles are lucky in the sense that they have this option at 2 starting Quarterbacks. What will Doug Peterson and Howie Roseman do? Is it time to recognize Foles can be this teams leader as well? Or will they not give him the credit he deserves in that it’s obvious he’s earned a spot on this team?

Nick Foles and Carson Wentz both have earned a starting position for The Philadelphia Eagles and it’ll be interesting to see which direction The Eagles go in the offseason.
