Four Down Territory: Dear Carson…

First Down

Dear Carson,

Before we get started please know that this is coming from a place of concern. I wouldn’t be writing this if you weren’t worth it. This wouldn’t see the light of day if you were someone like Ben DiNucci.

This is a labor of love.

Okay?

Bruh, WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON?!

Seriously, help us understand. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

You lead the league with sixteen turnovers. Every week you’re making decisions that have us wondering if you should be in the concussion protocol.

You’re regressing.

Your starting to be mentioned with the worst of the worst.

Jameis Winston. Let that marinate.

Let’s be clear; I’m not on the bench Carson train (please ignore my tweets from Sunday night, I was knee deep in a bottle of red). I still beleive you’re the leader of this franchise.

It’s obvious that something is wrong with you and Doug. His playcalling is atrocious and, until Sunday night, your receiving corps was one of the worst in the league. The offensive line is in shambles, too. Everything that could have gone wrong outside of you getting hurt has happened.

That’s still not an excuse, thought. You’re have too much talent to be playing this poorly.

See, you do this thing. You play horribly for most of the game then make a spectacular play. Something only you very few others can even attempt.

That’s the 2017 Carson. That’s the guy who can be MVP. He’s still in there, I know it.

There are reports going around that since DeFilippo and Reich left you’ve ignored coaching. You’re going back to old habits and ignoring Press and Doug.

Stop it. For all of our sakes.

Look, we’re still rooting for you. Well, those of us who weren’t on the Foles train. They’re now rocking Hurts’ jerseys.

It’s simple; just play within the framework of the offense and this team will be fine. Learn will the play is over and, most importantly: THROW THE BALL AWAY!

Signed,

Eagles fans that are tired of having multiple heart attacks on Sunday.

Second Down

It’s wild we’re at the halfway mark of the season. With most teams having played half their games it’s time to update award predictions.

Offensive Player of the Year: Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Original Pick: Clyde Edwards-Helaire

He wins form this play alone.

In all seriousness. Burrow is living up to the number one overall pick. Hopefully the Bengals get this right.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Antoine Winfield Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Original Pick: Chase Young

The Bucs got this man in the second round LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Rookie of the Year: Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Original Pick: Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Seriously, this Joe guy is good.

Offensive Player of the Year: Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Original Pick: Patrick Mahomes

Many players have been setting the league on fire but Mahomes is still the human torch.

Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams

Original Pick: Aaron Donald

This may come from being a Donald stan but it seems he seems to jump of the screen multiple times each game.

Comeback Player of the Year: Alex Smith, Washington Football Team

Original Pick: Alex Smith

You can’t make an argument against Alex. Sorry.

Coach of the Year: Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers

Original Pick: Frank Reich

Tomlin and his Steelers are undefeated with wins over the Ravens and Titans. They found another stud in Clase Claypool and he’s only getting better.

Most Valuable Player: Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Original Pick: Cam Newton

It speaks for itself.

Third Down

On October 3 Cam Newton tested positive for COVID.

Since returning on October 18 against Denver Newton has thrown five interceptions and averaged a QBR of 25.

Needless to say; something is off.

We still don’t know the long-term effects of COVID, especially how it relates to professional athletes. Granted, there’s no proof that Cam’s play is connected to his COVID case but it’s clear that something isn’t right.

I mean…he didn’t have many offensive weapons in Carolina and still made it work.

Von Miller shared his story in regards to COVID but it’s yet to be seen if he will suffer anything long term.

How COVID effects atheletes down the line is going to be a lead story for years to come.

Find a better celebration. I dare you.
