Four Down Territory: Wyoming’s Finest

First Down

This was going to be an apology post for the Josh Allen slander that’s come from 4DT.

Then it was going to go back to slandering Josh Allen.

And whatta know, we’re back to the apology.

Sunday the Bills put a hurting on the Rams. Then the Rams came storming back to take the lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Twitter fingers were ITCHING to drag Wyoming’s best through the coals had the Bills been on the wrong side of one of the biggest comebacks in NFL history.

Then, the refs stepped in.

Depending on what side of the cheering fence you’re on it was either the right call or bogus. (It was the right call).

Josh Allen’s performance, though, is why we’re here.

The season is still young but the Josh Allen MVP talk is legitimate. The Bills are 3-0 and Allen has thrown ten touchdowns, and rushed for two.

The most surprising stat is his 71% completion percentage. Coming out of college Allen’s biggest red flag was accuracy and it appears that he’s cleaned that up. The Bills were one year away last season and it seems that they’ve taken the leap.

It’s amazing what an elite wide receiver can do for a quarterback’s development.

The most 2020 thing ever is that Josh Allen’s name is being mentioned in the same breath as Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes.

What a time.

There’s a saying that the young people say when their favorite team/athlete exceeds expectations

Let your apologies be as loud as your disrespect.

With that being said; I’m sorry Josh for throwing heaps of dirt on your name.

So, just for you Bills Mafia, let’s watch Josh Allen ball out.

I do reserve the right to take all of this back, though. Just to be clear.

Second Down

Doug Pederson doesn’t trust his team. There’s no way around it.

At the end of OT the Eagles had lined up for the chance to win the game with a 59 yard field goal. A false start turned that into a 64 yard field goal attempt.

At this point in the game the Eagles had three options:

  1. Attempt the 64 yard field goal.
  2. Bring the offense back out and go for it on 4th and 12.
  3. Punt the ball and play for a tie.

Before going over what the Eagles decided to do let’s discuss the plays that lead to this situation.

Had the Eagles done the first two options and failed then there would be a different conversation but they picked option three.

 Like a bunch of cowards.

Doug punting on 4th & 12 is the loudest message he’s sent since calling Philly Philly in the Super Bowl.

“I don’t think you’re good enough.”

He didn’t trust Carson enough to make a play to at least try to get the first down on 4th & 12.

He didn’t trust Jake Elliot to attempt the 64 yard field goal.

He didn’t trust his defense to make a stop if Carson didn’t get the first down or if Jake missed the field goal.

During his Monday radio apperance Doug admitted that he made the wrong decision:

I mean…it’s cool that he didn’t double down and admitted that he made the wrong decision but the damage has been done.

This Eagles team is broken and it’s Doug’s job to fix it.

Are injuries playing a role? Absolutely but the 49ers are missing a third of their roster and are still finding ways to win.

The Eagles have a 7% chance of making the playoffs and the hardest remaining schedule in the league. If the Eagles are going to have a fighting chance then Carson needs to reach in his closet and grab his MVP skin.

Talking about changing skins always reminds me of this classic.

Third Down

Speaking of Eagles quarterbacks.

Nick Foles is out in Chicago doing Nick Foles things.

It’d be easy to rag on the Falcons but we did that last week. I think the NFL as a whole just feels bad for them.

Kidding. There’s always time to make fun of the Falcons.

Naggy announced that Foles will now be the starter for the foreseeable future.

Translation: Masarati Mitch will be in the shop until he finds a new team next year.

As a person who was watched Nick Foles up close for two stints in Philadelphia here’s what’s about to happen.

The next five games are against Indianapolis, Bucs, @ Carolina, and @ LA Rams for Monday Night Football.

They will go 3-2. Then you’ll start talking playoffs and Nick will go cold. If the Bears make the playoffs then Nick will catch fire. But that’s not going to happen. The Bears will win enough games that they won’t be in position to draft a top signal caller and Nick will start next year.

But you never know.

Fourth Down

Pick time!!!! Last week ya boy went 11-4-1 (it’s going to suck putting that 1 in for the rest of the year) bringing the season record to 33-14-1.
