MLB DFS 3/29/18: Bottom of the Barrel MLB Opening Day (FanDuel & DraftKings)

How can I put this? Baseball is back! It might now feel like spring but I promise you it’s coming!

How can I put this? Bottom of the Barrel is back too! It’s been a long hard winter, I dusted the computer off and its time to go to work.

Balance? Ever heard of it? Well, it takes me longer to find it compared to others but in doing so, you’ll learn a lot about yourself along the way. I learned two things. I’m afraid of failing and I’m afraid of success. It’s an odd scenario right? It’s either one or the other I told myself. So a few months back I had to take an honest look at myself.

What’s the opposite of fear? Took me months to figure it out. So while soul searching I asked myself a few questions…

What is my purpose
What is my calling?
What am I passionate about?

After taking an honest hard look at myself I came to one conclusion. I just need to have hope. Faith is the opposite of fear! With some some faith in my life, those questions become meaningless. The only piece of the puzzle I need is hope and the rest will come!

That’s what every DFS fan has to start each new slate! Hope and faith that this roster is the one to hit big! Now multiple that by a million to start a completely different sport! One we’ve waited on for months, baseball! I’m back with a new B&B. With that comes a new attitude and a new commitment for knowledge.

If you’re new to Bottom of the Barrel is quite simple. We all know what high price studs to roster right? Well, what about the other guys? B&B is just an article giving you the lowest of the low. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to give you a play or two that can help you hit big! It’s with great excitement I give you Bottom of the Barrel MLB Opening Day!

Lets kick off opening day with some starting pitchers, shall we?

Ivan Nova PIT@ DET (FD-$6,700)(DK-$7,000)

Patrick Corbin COL @ ARZ (FD-$6,400)

Julio Teheran PHI @ ATL (FD-$6,300)(DK-$7,600)

FanDuel has pulled the ole sneaky sneaky on us this season and I love it! They’ve combined the 1st base postion and cather. I’m a huge fan! Lets take a look..

Matt Olsen LAA @ OAK (FD-$3,300)(DK-$4,500)
Young stud in the making. Price is higher then I’d like for this article but I’d get him now before he skyrockets.

Austin Barnes SFG @ LOS (FD-$2,200)
With Justin Turner out he will see time all over the field!

Justin Bour CHC @ MIA (FD-$2,600)
All this guy did last season was slug the ball. I expect the same this season.

Second base is going to be exciting all season! Lots of young talent! Here’s what I’ve come up with for this week…

Ozzie Albies PHI @ ATL (FD-$2,800)(DK-$3,600)
Wowza! This kid is raw and rare, I’m telling you now this is, without doubt, the cheapest he will be all season!

Logan Forsythe SFG @ LOS (FD-$2,300)
Justin Turner injury anyone? He benefits!

Scooter Gennett WAS @ CIN (FD-$2,600)(DK-$3,500)
Moves all around the field and makes tons of contact! Yes please

Third base is a mixture of power and speed, a good place to pick your spots! Here are mine…

Eugenio Suarez WAS @ CIN (FD-$2,900)(DK-$3,600)
Kid has sneaky power, just what I’m looking for!

Cory Spangenberg MIL @ SDP (FD-$2,300)(DK-$3,200)
San Diego has a sneaky good lineup the season.

Matt Davidson CWS @ KAN (FD-$2,000)(DK-$3,400)
Its either a strikeout or a homerun with this guy right? Homerun time for opening day!

Talk about speed, young talent and real life good play. Short stop is loaded with that! I have a mixture of all three here…

Ketel Marte COL @ ARZ (FD-$2,400)
He’s just too cheap not to roster! The ARZ lineup is full of power. He has the potential for 100 runs scored. It starts opening day!

Brandon Crawford SFG @ LOS (FD-2,100)(DK-$3,400)
Better real life player then fantasy but should see better counting stats with the addition of Cutch!

Jose Iglesias PIT @ DET (FD-$2,100)(DK-$3,400)
Batting lead off for the Tigers doesn’t have the same luster it once did, but for opening day? The excitement in Detroit wins out!

Outfield will forever be a never ending pool of talent. A mixture of young studs coming up mixed with the old vets who still mash! Here’s what I have…

Manuel Margot MIL @ SDP (FD-$2,400)(DK-$3,400)
Another lead off guy in an awesome Padres lineup. He becomes a stud this season. Get in on him now!

Wil Myers MIL @ SDP (FD-$3,200)(DK-$4,000)
Batting 3rd in this lineup is such a sweet spot! He will hit 40hrs this season.

Jay Bruce STL @ NYM (FD-$2,900)(DK-$3,700)
All he does is mash too, but hes steady so he flys under the radar.

Andrew McCutchen SFG @ LOS (FD-$2,700)
Cutch has had a killer spring! Has looked awesome. Another guy who is too cheap.

If you haven’t noticed I did not include a UTIL spot here. If you’re like me I construct my line up best I can THEN I add a UTIL guy. Every roster will have different money left over for a UTIL spot. So chose wisely and may the odds forever be in your favor!

Well my friends B&B is back in a big way! After some time away I’m ready to get at it again. Sometimes real life happens and you have to make a choice.
