In-depth analysis of the starting pitchers on Friday, August 10, 2018 (8/10) MAIN SLATE to help you build winning cash game and tournament lineups on Draftkings and FanDuel.

Zach Wheeler (NYM) @ MIA: 10.1DK, 9.4FD

Zach has been the model of consistency this season, sporting a 24% k rate vs lefties and a 23% k rate vs righties. He is almost death to right-handed hitters with his 50% groundballs and a very impressive 20% hard contact rate. He will likely face 7-8 righties in Miami. Miami has a 23% k rate and a measly 110 iso vs righties over the last month. He is my favorite pitcher on the slate. He should be the first pitcher in your Cash lineups.

Gerrit Cole (HOU) vs SEA: 12.5DK, 10.5FD

I could almost write the same writeup I did with Justin Verlander yesterday.  Seattle’s K rate over the past month doesn’t scream play Cole. They only have an 18% k rate vs righties. But they do have a below average 139 iso.  Cole is sporting a 40% k rate vs lefties and a 30% k rate vs righties. This guy is a stud, and I wouldn’t criticize you for playing him. I’m just not sure I want to pay this price tag (especially on DK) on a slate that I want to pay up for big bats.

Jon Gray (COL) vs LAD: 7.7DK, 9FD

Y’all are probably thinking I am crazy for recommending Gray vs the Dodgers in Coors Field. I might very well be. However, Gray has only allowed 6 HR at home this season in 59 innings. He is also sporting a massive 52% groundball rate with a very low 26% flyball rate all while limiting hard contact to 29%. In addition to these very impressive numbers, he has a massive 33% k rate vs lefties and a 26% k rate vs righties. This is obviously a tournament only play, but I kind of like him a lot.

Ervin Santana (MIN) @ DET: 6.4DK, 6.1FD

This is simply a price and matchup option.  Ervin is still trying to shake some rust off since coming back from injury. The Tigers have been atrocious vs righties over the past month, sporting a massive 26% k rate and a measly 109 iso.  This could be the start where he gets back on track.
