MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 6/17

Last night was another successful night on FanDuel 5050s.  Hopefully you guys caught the Wieters note and replaced him.  I was able to upgrade my third baseman to Machado with the money saved, which really paid off with the two homers he hit.  My original selection in Freese would’ve worked at third as well with him hitting a two run homer late in the Angels win over the Diamondbacks.  Here is a photo of last night’s results:

Now on to tonight’s lineup:

Pitcher: Carlos Martinez $9,400
An option slightly cheaper than Kershaw and Hernandez with a good matchup tonight against the Twins.  He also should be good for 5-8 strikeouts tonight in what should be a winning effort.

Catcher: Francisco Cervelli $2,900
Cervelli has had two strong outings against the White Sox in this series and now gets to face John Danks who’s been struggling this year.  Expect another good outing from the Pirates catcher.

First Baseman: Carlos Santana $3,400
Santana has homered in two of his last three games and is looking like he is starting to come out of a slump that has lasted most of this month.  Wada strikes out a lot of batters (24K in 22 IP) but he has given up 23 hits during that span.  Santana could be in line for another strong game tonight.

Second Baseman: Dee Gordon $3,400
I really like this matchup. Pineda has given up 84 hits in only 74 IP and Gordon has a hit in eight of his last ten games.  I predict Gordon to get at least two hits and steal a base tonight.  Dee Gordon is this evening’s Ultimate Gut Call.

 Third Baseman: Manny Machado $3,500
Machado is one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now and until he cools off he will be in my lineup.  $3,500 for a guy hitting like this is a STEAL!!

Shortstop: Jung-ho Kang $2,900
Kang is a cheap right handed bat going against Danks, a pitcher who’s seen better days.  Kang should do well in this spot.

Outfielder: Chris Coghlan: $2,800
Coghlan had a seven game hit streak snapped yesterday but can get back on track tonight against Indian’s pitcher Shaun Marcum who is known to be up and down.  This is a risky play because Marcum has admittedly been more up than down this season.  The potential is there, especially at only $2,800.

Outfielder: Starling Marte $4,000
Another right handed bat against Danks.  McCutchen was too expensive for this lineup so I went ahead and added the next best thing.  Marte has two or more hits in five straight games.

Outfielder: Curtis Granderson $3,000
Blue Jays pitcher Andrew Hutchinson has been hittable recently (five or more hits surrendered in eight of his last nine starts).  That bodes well for the Mets lefty leadoff man.

Confidence Level: 4 out of 5
Let’s keep this streak going!  Good luck everyone!
