Pitching

Noah Syndergaard $11,400 vs. CIN

There are almost too many great pitching options on tonight’s slate(Bumgarner, Stroman, Salazar, Greinke, Archer) Syndergaard has been lights out this season, as he boasts a 0.90 ERA, 2-0 record, and 29 K’s in just 3 starts. However, Syndergaard has had some easy matchups against the Marlins, Phillies, so those incredible CY Young caliber numbers may be outliers, it’s hard to tell this early in the season(and in his career). Red’s hitters are hitting just .088 against Syndergaard with 0 walks and 0 runs scored lifetime against him. Another reason, this matchup is high on our list, it this game is at home and not at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park.

Ross Stripling $5,600 vs. MIA

Stripling threw a near no-hitter in his first career start, then came back with another quality start against the D-Backs, but got rattled early in his last outing against the Braves. Stripling has pitched very well so far, especially as a rookie, yet DraftKings still has him as the 2nd cheapest pitcher on the slate tonight at just $5,600. I’ve found it’s an effective strategy to roster rookie pitchers because hitters haven’t faced them yet and don’t really have a gauge on their pitches and command yet. At just $5,600, Stripling allows you to fit in Coor’s comfortably.

Sneaky GPP Play- Rick Porcello

Lineup

Francisco Lindor $3,600 @ MIN

Lindor is a switch-hitter, but is considerably better from the right side of the plate, and has an excellent matchup tonight against lefty Tommy Milone. Milone has looked like a batting practice pitcher so far this year, as he’s given up 11 runs in just 15 innings pitched. Lindor has followed up his excellent rookie campaign with an even better sophomore season, as he’s hitting .323 with 20 hits and 12 runs scored in just 16 games. We’ve ranted before about how there just isn’t a lot of great fantasy value at the shortstop position, but at just $3,600 tonight no complaints here.

Nolan Arenado $5,000 vs. PIT

Arenado should be the highest owned 3rd basemen tonight, but for good reason as he’s taking on lefty Jeff Locke tonight at Coor’s Field. Locke’s WHIP is one of the highest in all of baseball, as he’s allowing 2.63 walks/hits per inning this year. Locke really struggles with his control at times, as shown in his last outing against the Padres(8 ER in 3 innings pitched….) Arenado has had great success against Locke in his career and it’s of course at Coor’s, so $5,000 actually seems kinda cheap for Arenado tonight.

Ryan Raburn $4,000 vs. PIT

Raburn came over from the Indians this offseason to be the utility guy for the Rockies. Raburn is only really used against left-handed pitching as his career splits have been jaw dropping(batted .325 against lefties, but .136 against righties in 2015) Like most hitters, Raburn has really benefited from his time at Coor’s this season, as he’s batting .375 with 3 home runs in just 24 AB’s. Raburn and Reynolds will surely be in the lineup tonight against Jeff Locke, gotta like both righties tonight at Coor’s.

Mookie Betts $4,600 vs. ATL

Mookie has been on a tear recently as he’s batting .430 over his last 5 games. Not only has Betts been getting on base, he’s been hitting for extra bases like crazy, as he’s hit 2 home runs, 2 triples, and a double over his last 5 games. What’s really to like about Betts is that he can hit for power and steal bases, he can accumulate fantasy points in multiple different ways. Could definitely see a Red Sox stack taking down a GPP tonight in Atlanta.
