NFL 3-Round Mock Draft 2.0 (post Combine)

Round 1

1. Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray– QB-Oklahoma

Where there’s smoke there’s normally fire and that’s how it’s looking in Arizona with Kyler Murray. The talk of the combine was how he’s going number one overall and that Kliff loves him for his system.  Murray was extremely accurate at Oklahoma to go with his game-breaking rushing ability. The Cardinals still need a lot of talent to go with him, hopefully, they get a nice return from Rosen.

2. San Francisco 49ers

Nick Bosa– EDGE-OSU

Dreams come true for the 49ers as they solidify their defensive line with the best edge rusher in the class. Paired with Deforest Buckner, Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas this give the 49ers a dynamic defensive line who can set the tone for a defense.

3. New York Jets

Quinnen Williams– DT – Bama

Quinnen Williams emerged this year as not only the best interior defensive lineman in the country but one of the best overall players. Williams is disruptive in the pass game, can get after the quarterback and demands double teams. There is a lot of way the Jets could go at this spot but on a roster with a lot of needs taking the best overall player helps. 

4.Oakland Raiders

Rashan Gary– EDGE – Mich

The Raiders have a desperate need of pass rush after finishing dead last in the league last year in sacks. Although he had limited production in college Rashan Gary has absolute dominant traits. Running a 4.58 forty yard dash at 277 pounds is jaw-dropping and shows a lot of upside. With Mayock’s history working for major media this pick kind of follows what they’re saying because the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jawaan Taylor–OT –Fla

The Bucs just showed the importance they put on their offensive line overpaying Donavan Smith but that’s still only one spot on a position group that was Swiss cheese last year. Jawaan Taylor is a dominant blocker who could step in day one and be starter. Giving Jameis protection is huge being they need to figure out if he’s truly their franchise QB.

6. New York Giants

Daniel Jones– QB- Duke

I hate this pick as much as you do reading this but hear me out. The Giants love Eli Manning who was never that exciting during his career, was steady as can be, and is backed by their head coach. A lot of the same can be said about Daniel Jones who just so happens has a fantastic relationship with Eli (perfect mentor). Jones also has the same quarterback coach as both Eli and Peyton which makes it easy to adapt to a pro offense. As well Gettleman stated how he thinks it takes big strong players to play in the NFL and Daniel Jones fits that bill. This may go down as one of the worst picks in the draft but it’s definitely in the realm of possibilities.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars

Dwayne Haskins-QB-OSU

Jacksonville is happy as can be here with the best quarterback in the draft falling to him. Haskins is the perfect fit for what they do and Coughlin’s style.  Haskins is safe, makes good decisions, spreads the ball well and is fantastic game manager. Haskins skillset with this running game works out perfectly and puts Jacksonville in position to bounce back.

8.Detroit Lions

Josh Allen– EDGE-KY

With the Lions letting Ziggy Ansah walk they have no viable pass rushers on the roster which makes this an easy decision. Allen was ultra-productive in his last season of college dominating the SEC. At the combine any offensive lineman who played against him when asked who the toughest guy to block the answer was close to unanimously Allen.  Allen adds a dynamic presence to a defense that was lacking.

9.Buffalo Bills

D.K. Metcalf– WR-Ole Miss

Buffalo showed last year that they weren’t afraid to take a chance on high upside guys with their franchise QB Josh Allen, now it’s time to get him some weapons.  Look no further than the Madden created character D.K. Metcalf, Metcalf came into the combine at 6’3” 228 pounds and ran a 4.33 forty yard dash. Men that big should not be able to move like that. With unlimited upside Metcalf is the perfect addition to grow with Josh Allen.

10. Denver Broncos

Drew Lock– QB- Mizzu

When the Broncos went out and traded for Flacco it was just a band-aid until they got their franchise QB.  This is where Drew Lock comes in, he’s everything Elway looks for in a quarterback. Lock is big has a strong arm and can make all of the throws. With a game similar to Flacco he could learn and fill in perfectly.

11.Cincinnati Bengals

Devin White– ILB – LSU

Cincinnati has been looking for a sideline to sideline linebacker for a long time and Devin White is just that. White showed all season he could make plays on the field and backed it up at the combine running a blazing 4.44 forty. With the slot receiver and tight end being so prevalent in today’s NFL a linebacker who can run and cover like White is a fantastic weapon.

12.Green Bay Packers

Montez Sweat-EDGE-Miss St

Everybody came into the combine knowing Sweat was a good athlete, nobody expected him to run the fastest forty ever by a defensive lineman (4.41).  This kind of explosion is going to make defensive coordinators water at the mouth. Green Bay has been slowly rebuilding their defense thru the draft and a guy like this off of the edge

13. Miami Dolphins

Jonah Williams– OT- Bama

Miami is a team with a ton of needs and one of the most glaring is the offensive line. Williams was a staple of Alabama’s offense at left tackle. He has the diversity to play either side of the line or inside at guard. With this pick Miami could either move Tunsil back inside or put Williams at the spot whatever they feel works best. With no quarterbacks available Miami is building up their line to protect their future signal caller.  

14. Atlanta Falcons

Ed Oliver-DT- Hous

The Falcons love speed and athleticism on defense and Ed Oliver is just that. He’s an explosive inside penetrator who can get to the quarterback and cause chaos in general. Previously viewed as a top-five pick Atlanta will be ecstatic to add a player of his caliber in the middle.

15. Washington Redskins

N’Keal Harry – WR – ASU

Washington is in bad shape in their passing game, as of now they have no quarterback barely any active receivers and a running back coming off a torn ACL. Fixing their offense is huge and a big-time receiving threat can help get them there. A few years ago Washington took a chance drafting Josh Doctson who had a lot of questions. Harry gives them a high floor with a ton of upside. He can be their receiver one for a long time.

16. Carolina Panthers

Brian Burns– EDGE-FSU

For the last few years, Brian Burns had fantastic production and great film but one big question kept coming up, how someone plays edge weighing 228 pounds. Burns came into the combine checking that box weighing 249 and showed in his drills that he didn’t lose any athleticism. Burns is the type of athletic playmaker Carolina wants on the edge and will be a nice replacement to fill in the enormous shoes of Julius Peppers.  

17. Cleveland Browns

Greedy Williams-CB-LSU

Last year Cleveland spent a first round pick on Greg Ward who played great. This year they double up with Greedy Williams who should be a nice compliment. Ward is quick and sticky with the ability to man up against slot receivers as well. Williams is tall long and fast with the ability to handle and manipulate taller receivers. These two could help give Cleveland one of the best corner combinations in the league.

18. Minnesota Vikings

Chris Lindstrom-OG-BC

The Vikings are a team that doesn’t have many weaknesses but has one that’s glaring and that’s their offensive line. That’s what makes this pick easy, Lindstrom is a mauler who has the athletic traits to pull outside and lead block. This fills a major need for the Vikings with a guy who can help set the tone.

19. Tennessee Titans

Clelin Ferrell– Edge- Clem

The Titans defense needs improvement on the defensive line and they prefer hardnosed smart players.  Clelin Ferrell fits that bill to a T. Ferrell has been the key to Clemson’s defense on its recent string of success, his consistency and versatility make him a perfect fit in Tennessee and a great value at 19.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers

Devin Bush-LB-Mich

The Steelers have lacked a quality linebacker since Ryan Shazier got injured. Devin Bush brings the speed that the Steelers covet on defense with the ability to be a top tier coverage guy. Bush changes the entire dynamic of the Steelers defense and is a great building block.

21. Seattle Seahawks

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson-S-Fla

The Legion of Boom is not what it used to be where it sent shivers down the spines of defenses. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson brings an intimidating force to the secondary. Showing an enormous jump in production over the last year Gardner-Johnson proved he has what it takes to succeed in the NFL and is the perfect enforcer to help bring fear to going across the middle of Seattle again.

22. Baltimore Ravens

Garrett Bradbury-C-NCST

The Ravens run game was dominant once Lamar Jackson stepped in with questions at both guard and center. Garrett Bradbury is possibly the best lineman overall in this year’s draft, he just happens to be at a position, teams don’t covet as much.  Bradbury is smart, nasty and athletic, adding him to the Ravens line improves on something that was already strong allowing for the dominant run game to continue.

23. Houston Texans

Andre Dillard-OT-Was St

DeShaun Watson was sacked 62 times last year and the Texans need to protect him desperately. If they spent their next four picks on the offensive line I wouldn’t be mad (not happening here). NFL.com views Dillard as the best pass protector in this year’s class and that’s just what the doctor ordered. A guy who can step in and protect Watson’s blind side should be the team’s number one priority and he’s that.

24. Oakland Raiders (CHI)

Noah Fant– TE-Iowa

Jarred Cook had a huge year for the Raiders last year, although it may be because he was their only target. That being said he’s now gone and that was a major part of their offense. Noah Fant is an upgrade in every way. Fant is a young athletic freak who is a fantastic receiving threat.  Fant adds a nice weapon to the Raiders offense and can be Derek Carr’s go-to guy across the middle.

25. Philadelphia Eagles

Christian Wilkins-DT-Clem

The Eagles are a team that believes that defense starts with the defensive line and with them losing Timmy Jernigan they have a hole at defensive tackle. Christian Wilkins is an absolute beast in the middle who forces double teams. Wilkins has the ability to move along their line and be a major part of their rotation. The Eagles may have some other needs at corner but as of now, it’s time to improve on something they’re already strong on.

26. Indianapolis Colts

Hakeem Butler-WR-IOST

T.Y. Hilton has been Andrew Luck’s go-to guy for a while but is still a limited receiver with his small frame. Hakeem Butler is the absolute opposite coming in at 6’6” with the wingspan of a pterodactyl gives Luck a big bodied threat he can go to in the end zone. Butler had the exceptional speed to go with his size as well making him a top-notch receiving threat.

27. Oakland Raiders (DAL)

Byron Murphy– CB-Wash

The Raiders have missed a couple of times on corner in the draft, Murphy gives them a smooth cover corner with a knack for making plays. Murphy gives Oakland a nice piece in their secondary who could be a long term option at corner.

28. Los Angeles Chargers

Dalton Risner– OT- K-State

With Philip Rivers’ age and lack of mobility protecting him is a must. With a massive hole at the right tackle position, Risner could step in and give the Chargers another young talented lineman to protect their franchise QB.

29. Kansas City Chiefs

DeAndre Baker-CB-Georgia

The Chiefs offense was clicking on all cylinders this year with Patrick Mahomes at the helm. The issue was every single game was a shootout mainly due to poor defensive back play. Baker is a high IQ player who has a knack for getting the ball. Baker may have underperformed at the combine, that being said he’s technically sound enough to be a solid starting corner in a class that’s not as strong.

30. Green Bay Packers (NO)

Erik McCoy-OG-A&M

The Packers failed to protect Aaron Rodgers this season allowing him to be sacked 56 times which ranks third worst in the league. Erik Mccoy is a massive mover who can step and start at either guard or center giving the Packers options.

31. Los Angeles Rams

Johnathan Abram-S-Miss St

With the departure or Lamarcus Joyner via free agency, the Rams are missing an important part of their secondary. Johnathan Abrams can step in and be a complete tone setter on defense as a guy who thumps defenders across the middle.  While Abrams may occasionally play out of control the Rams aren’t afraid to play a guy with some edge and he’ll be a nice piece to their secondary.

32. New England Patriots

TJ Hockenson-TE-Iowa

This is a match made in heaven for the Patriots. Gronk is possibly on his last season of the NFL and T.J. Hockenson is one of the most similar skillsets to him that we’ve seen in a long time. Hockenson is a tremendous blocker with an uncanny ability to stretch the field and make plays.  Hockenson can learn and develop a year as the tight end two before taking over as an intricate part of the Patriots’ offense.
