NFL DFS DraftKings and FanDuel Value Plays for Week 4

The NFL season is just flying along as we enter Week 4 which is the start of bye weeks with the Redskins and Panthers taking the week off. We don’t take any weeks off here at GoingFor2, so I bring you the top Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel as we look at the Week 4 main slate.

So, onto the value plays for Week 4…

The DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel Value Plays for Week 4

Quarterbacks

DK | Andrew Luck (IND) vs. HOU $5,500
There are a variety of QBs that interest me around the $5,500 price tag on DraftKings this week. That said, Andrew Luck is my top option at that price point playing at home against the Texans a game with one of the higher point totals on the slate and a close line. The Texans pass defense ranks 28th DVOA according to FootballOutsiders and Luck has about a 13 DK point floor with 25-30 DK point upside. I’ll take that at just $5,500 every week.

Other options

FD | Baker Mayfield (CLE) @ OAK $6,900
Yes, Baker Mayfield looked good in his first half of football during his NFL career, but I don’t expect it to look that easy every week. He has a fairly neutral matchup against the Raiders in Oakland this week but I’m willing to take a shot on him in GPPs just in case he can build on his success from last week now that he has had a week of practice with the first team and the knowledge that he is the man going forward.

Other options

Running Backs

DK | Tevin Coleman (ATL) vs. CIN $5,900
My value RBs both come from the same game this week with the Bengals and Falcons squaring off in Atlanta in a game with the highest Vegas total on the slate. Tevin Coleman will continue to take over the lion’s share of the touches in the backfield with Devonta Freeman still out. He has averaged 19 touches per game over his last two starts with Freeman out and faces a Bengals defense that has allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing RBs in PPR scoring this season. Coleman is also game flow independent as he should be on the field regardless of if the Falcons have the lead or are playing catchup.

Other options

FD | Giovani Bernard (CIN) @ ATL $6,400
Giovani Bernard got every RB touch last week for the Bengals with Joe Mixon out. With Mixon likely to miss his second straight game, Bernard will be the workhorse back again this week against a Falcons defense that has allowed a remarkable 14 and 15 receptions to RBs the last two weeks. Bernard might not be quite as involved in the passing game as Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey, but he should definitely still benefit from an increase in targets in a game with the highest Vegas total on the Sunday slate. The raw numbers allowed by the Falcons run defense are decent but their DVOA comes in at 32nd against the run.

Other options

  • Carlos Hyde (CLE) @ OAK $6,800
  • LeSean McCoy (BUF) @ GB $6,500
  • Aaron Jones (GB) vs. BUF $5,500

Wide Receivers

DK | Christian Kirk (ARI) vs. SEA $3,700
I’m going to dig a little bit deeper for my WR recommendation on DraftKings this week. While all of the $4,000-$5,000 range WRs listed below are strong options, I have my eye on a cheaper Christian Kirk who had his best game last week with seven receptions for 90 yards on eight targets. Fellow rookie Josh Rosen played the final two series in that game and looked Kirk’s way three times. With Rosen starting this week, look for him to continue to pepper targets towards his fellow rookie WR giving him some intriguing upside for a discount price.

Other options

FD | Kenny Golladay (DET) @ DAL $5,800
Kenny Golladay has made a huge jump in his second year with at least six receptions and 53 yards in each of his first three games while also finding the end zone twice as the biggest red zone target that Matthew Stafford has. Yet, somehow Golladay is still priced under $6,000 on FanDuel. His matchup against the Cowboys secondary isn’t ideal but he does have a 4-5 inch height advantage over their corners and has big-play ability that can pay off his salary with one big catch.

Other options

  • Tyler Boyd (CIN) @ ATL $5,800
  • Corey Davis (TEN) vs. PHI $5,400
  • Antonio Callaway (CLE) @ OAK $4,500

Tight Ends

DK | Eric Ebron (IND) vs. HOU $3,600
Eric Ebron was a popular choice at TE last week but only finished with five catches for 33 yards last week but was targeted 11 times including four times in the red zone. Jack Doyle is likely out again this week, which should provide Ebron with another double-digit target share this week against the Texans who have allowed the eighth most fantasy points per game to opposing TEs. Now he just needs to connect on one or two of those red zone targets.

Other options

FD | Rhett Ellison (NYG) vs. NO $4,100
With the Giants starting TE Evan Engram out numerous weeks with a knee injury, Rhett Ellison pops up on the DFS radar. Ellison caught all three targets for 39 yards and a TD against the Texans last week and is priced near the minimum on FanDuel for their Week 4 matchup with the Saints. Just being on the field more in a game with one of the highest Vegas totals on the slate puts Ellison in a good position to waltz into some fantasy production. Using him at TE frees up a lot of money to help out at other positions.

Other options

  • Trey Burton (CHI) vs. TB $5,600
  • Eric Ebron (IND) vs. HOU $5,500

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
